RRH socks

After all the air show socks, I decided to knit a pair for myself. One of my favorite patterns is Adrienne Fong's Round Robyn's House. I'm using Patonyle dyed in the crock pot with Wilton's teal frosting dye. The first one is finished and I've done one lace repeat on the second. I'll ask my friend to take a pic when she visits this week. I'll post the yardage after Fred calculates it when the 2nd one is finished. This pattern is written beautifully and once you knit one pair, you'll want to make many more.
custom YFM socks

I finished the custom YFM socks for Fred (Gridiron by Anne Hanson) and he wore them to a fly-in and dazzled the other pilots. I washed them to find that the blue I had dyed didn't run, but the Cascade Heritage red yarn did. Pink stripes mostly washed out by using a bar of soap. The eucalyptus oil in the wool soaps here seems to draw out the color. Fred thinks I got almost all of it out, but Adrienne came up with a great idea which I'll do when he returns from the big air show. I'll cut off the cuffs and knit them again. Seems everything on this pair has to be twice. First I have to wait for the order of more red yarn from the States. I only have 6 gms left of the original and with my luck lately, would probably need more. I do have another colorway which I can use AFTER reskeining and washing it ahead of time. I had to do that with the blue after discovering it ran, but at least I could wash it out before knitting the socks. The socks fit beautifully and he loves wearing them. I'm using an old camera and will take a pic of the air show sock collection and post after my repaired one is returned to me end of March (I HOPE!).

52 Week Challenge - Brenda (Owlsrook)

Bluebell Rib Socks in Progress - I have just started the heel flap on sock one of this pair, using Paton's Stretch Socks, lightweight cotton blend. The cuff is 5 inches and this is a six stitch repeat over six rows for the Bluebell Rib.

Here we say goodbye to the Chevron Socks in DGB yarn, these have been sent to the very deepest end of the Frog Pond, never to surface again in sock form. Reason, there are just not any sunglasses dark enough to allow a person to wear the completed item in public. The yarn will remain in stash until such time as I find a pattern that shouts, I need Neon.
Oh well, onwards we go.

52 week progress March

Hi I decided to make a pair of socks for my daughter out of the yarn left over from my Olympic socks KAL. She has large feet for her age and I will be stressed out this month. But, I am going to give it a try (to get it finished in time and stay on track.) I so will need prayer on this one. And for my hubby who has been out of work since the third week of December too! Hope you all have a great March.
Jody
Two pairs of socks

One pair finished in February, and one pair in March. Unfortunately I have been offline for a while, due to a transfer from one provider to another. That did not go smoothly, and took longer than expected. In the mean time the flu struck too... had to take a rest from knitting as well.
The first pair is a pair in Panda Soy Ecru, done for the 50 states book that Dr Laura is going to release in June, in coöperation with Crystal Palace Yarns. This is the sock for the state of Tennessee, called Music.
The second pair is done in Trekking XXL 154, and for Alexa. I used 340 yards in this pair, and the rest of the yarn went into the blanket. I still have 20 cm to go to finish the blanket...and boy, that one is getting heavy! (cast on March 1st, finished March 3rd)

The Main Man's Sock Are DONE
AND they've been worn. Does life really get any better than this??? Okay, I'm sure it does. But for a dreary grey mid-twenty degree day, I'm TAKING it and RUNNING!!!
I used about 375 yds of Knitpicks Bare in chestnuts burning over an open fire.
I'm still plugging along on D's birthday sweater and need to snap some other progress pics.
Happy Knitting!
March Project: 50 States HI Sock
Here's the progress shot of my March project, it's the sock I designed that's going to be in the upcoming book on cd 50 Socks - 50 States. I'm very honored and excited to be included in this project and I'm very happy with what I came up with for Hawaii, here's the one sock I just finished:

The inspiration for this sock was the beautiful but deadly display of colors from a volcano eruption, especially the contrast of black and oranges, something like this:

I used Crystal Palace's Panda Cotton in Jet Black and Red Cinnamon.

52 week challenge - Another FO :~)
52 Week Challange - Debbie (Grandma 07)
Thought I'd add a progress picture of my Autumn in NY shawl. There are now about 125 rows done and so far I've used a ball and a half of Mini Mochi in the Autumn colorway. I really like the way the colors blend together so that it's hard to tell where the new ball was started. My plan is to finish this for my March project.

Maizy harika sock progress
Hi all! Wow, there's a lot of projects being accomplished by this group!
I wanted to share some progress photos of the Maizy socks I've been knitting. My goal is to finish the pair in March to earn my "M". :-)

This is the harika pattern from Twist Collective. My first full-size socks knit in fair isle. Challenging, but fun!

UFO Challenge: I posted my pictures in wrong BLOG!!!!
Talk about one large "brain fart". But here they are finished:

Two pair of SFS - one knit by me alone (the ODS) & one team knit (the DSS) - finished January 26, 2009.
I am sorry, but I forgot to get a picture of DSS while in progress.
Yeah! 1st pair!

This is my first pair of socks with Panda Soy sock yarn in Cocoa Mint. I won the yarn in the Olympic Sock KAL. It took me a while but Owen will love his handmade pair for sure. I am off and running and ready to make me a pair now. This pair was 25% done. Thank you for the yarn Susan! It was really fun and now I am "getting" sock construction. I loved the pattern and the directions were so much easier than others I have tried to do! I am so pleased. Thank you.

52 Week Challenge

Dear Jane, you have created a monster! This slipper pattern is fun, and leaves room to play, which I did this time. I stuck to the numbers given in the pattern this time, but just had to add a little "frou-frou" Fun Fur. I would guess 360yds. Next time, I think I need to use smaller needles where the frou-frou is, as I forgot that they won't felt as well where there is frou-frou. Wow, that means I knit around 930yds this month! Bigger needles and quicker projects are much gentler on carpal tunnel. :o)
52 Week Challenge

I hope you don't mind my splitting my posts up, but dial-up is being temperamental today. Here I have some felted mittens; in progress, unfelted, and felted. These also used 190yds, and were a blast to make! Both the mittens and the hats are from the wonderful book "Felted Knits", by Bev Galeskas.
February's Projects Finally, talk about last minute
Well February I was on a slipper, headband and dishcloth kick. I knitted more then this but I keep forgetting to take progress pictures. These purple slippers are a drops design I sorta improvised... not sure if the yarn is wool or not so didn't try to felt them
This second try at the felted Norweigan slippers went way better. I used smaller needles and less stitches and they fit my feet well. And this time no errors either, LOL. I also made a totally solid pick pair which was awesome because I just knitted to a length and turned and did the side rows. But alas no progress photos, but I will get them in my Ravelry projects soon.
The round dishcloth is a pattern I designed, I made 4 or 5 of them but only have photos of 3.
I made two of the heart square dishcloth, this solid one and a variegated one but again no progress of the other.
And these headbands I think thay are called Nora headband and the pattern is available for free on Ravelry too... so easy and FUN. Who would have thought cables could br FUN?
I have had the flu for a week and am just feeling better so if I was supposed to post something else like yardage or something my apologies. I can't think that much right now. Foggy brain, you know?
Got lots planned for March... so I'll see you there.

52 Week Challenge

Who-hoo, me next! First, I have the hats; the first pic is my finished pic (both hats for this month), the 2nd shows the 1st one after felting along with the 2nd one before felting (the unknown knitter?) :o). I added 10 more rows to the 2nd one as I wanted it a bit deeper. The 3rd is, of course, my progress pic for the 2nd hat, bringing the yarn total for me this month to around 380yds:
Last Completed Project for Feb.

52 week kal february object update
This is my finished object for February. It is from Wool/Silk/Alpaca and I used 3.5 skeins à 125m, which will be around 400m or about 440yards. I jumped in for someone who went ill but wanted to stay within a swap. Never thought such a thing works, but it was tested on a blue tea pot, as you can see, and I might forget about our teapot warmer. Tea stayed hot for longer time than needed. Perhaps will knit another one, for us.
Fingerless Gloves

I have worked on this pair this month in secret... as a small birthday present to myself. I made the pair (although you see just one hand photographed, the other hand is holding the camera) out of 1 skein Panda Soy Positive Purple. 10 meters of yarn were left when done, and these ended up in the blanket.

Completed my Wool Peddler's Shawl - Above is the completed Shawl. (Progress picture was posted Feb. 13/09) I knit this from some stash yarn and it took 421 yards. This pattern is from the book "Folk Shawls" by Cheryl Oberle.
So all of the projects I started in February are now completed, with 3 days to spare. I wonder if I have time to do something else in that time. Or else I'll just look through my patterns and stash in preparation for March Projects.
Projects Started and Completed in February:
Openwork Rib Socks - 358 yards
Mock Cable Wristers - 354 yards
Socks of Hideousness - 370 yards
Wool Peddler's Shawl - 421 yards
Total Yards for Feb. so far = 1503 yards

ufo kal-IMPORTANT
PLEASE remember to tell us how much remains to be done with your ufo's. entries are based on the percentage of the project that needs to be finished.
what to do: assess as approximately "quarters" - one quarter left to do, one half left to do, 3/4 left to do. this helps us keep tally.
no credit if you don't do this.

52 Week Challenge - Brenda (Owlsrook)

Here are my completed Mock Cable Wristers - I knit these using DGB Confetti 100 Superwash Yarn, using 2.25 mm dpns. I didn't use a pattern, just knit to the lenght I liked on the wrist portion, then added a thumb, and continued on to the palm portion, which ends just at the base of the fingers. The Mock Cable is stretchy, which makes them comfortable, but also allows them to hug the hand. Total Yardage for this pair = 354 yards.
Completed Projects so far for February:
Openwork Rib Socks - 358 yards
Socks of Hideousness - 370 yards
Mock Cable Wristers - 354 yards = 1,082 yards completed so far for February.
Still on the Needles:
Wool Peddler's Shawl - about 1/3 of this remaining to finish. Hope to get it done by the end of the month. (I was doing some test knitting so this got pushed to the back for a few days).

ufo kal

Hi, I just finished my first real "sock yarn" sock with my winnings (Olympic challenge.) It has taken me tons of time to do this project. Owen should fit into them with plenty of wiggle room! Last sock to finish soon. I am so excited. It is a little splitty but I think I really now "get" sock construction and the techniques. I think it is time for a mini-mochi pair for me! Whee. Does anyone have ideas on which pattern to use for a fairly new beginner?
Jody
P.S. I think I will have enough to do a n adult pair from this yarn too. Ant hints on patterns for the Panda Soy cocoa mint color?
