July Project: My First Sweater

This mystery yarn used to be a rather long skirt and I turned it into a great sweater for my youngest dd.  This is my first attempt at a sweater and I didn't want to use good yarn in case I totally mangled it.  In progress:

I knitted top-down and totally mangled that first sleeve.  But it all came together in the end and my daughter is very happy with it.  Finished project:

I trimmed it with a yellow bow.  The bottom is 3 by 1 ribbing.  I was very happy with this project.

What do you do...

... for my husband with cold feet? Exactly! Knit him a pair of socks!

I worked up a pair toe-up socks for him in Hifa 2 Ullgarn,(purchased at www.nordicwool.nl And on US 4 needles, it is a pretty quick knit!
Pattern is my own... if you like I'll make it available through the Ravelry store in time.

Isla Vista Shawlette

Isla Vista Shawl-ette : 2 skeins Mini Mochi Spice Market ---on size 6 needles.

I made up the pattern. Reminds me of little waves surounding an island of garter stitches. 78" by 9"---shallow triangle shape.(It grew a bit after blocking!)
i LOVED working with this yarn. The colors are phenomenal. They appear to be different in different light. Don't know how that is possible....but it is.

Prime Time KAL - 7/11 WIP

Doing a couple of things this month...First I am using the Lepidoptera Mitt Pattern by Allison Van Zandt (SSYC)and Dream in Color Smooshy yarn in the Dusky Aurora colorway, Going to give them to my mother because her hands are always cold. Second I am making the Fluttered footies by Michelle Hunter (Knit Purl Hunter) using Trekking XXL in the 09 colorway. I bought this yarn in Hawaii years ago and rescued it from my stash. Time to go back to Hawaii!!! Both patterns are available on Ravelry.

rooster scarf started for August entry in Prime Time KAL

I'm posting the start of this August project before I lose the picture. I am making this up as I go along and having lots of fun.

surprises for Fred and Chris for another primetime July entry

http://downcloverlaine.blogspot.com/ We are honored that Elaine Fitzgerald named this croc cloth "Fred" and posted it on the year anniversary of the Kakadu crash. I made one for Fred and one for Chris as a token of our good fortune. I'll make one for the other two passengers as well.

As I was posting the croc cloth, I remembered that I hadn't posted the birthday red, white and blue ones. They are also an Elaine Fitzpatrick free pattern and easily knit in a day. The only one not her pattern is the multi colored Grandmother's Favorite.

The "rooster" made out of the bird pattern is also a free pattern and a quick knit, although fiddly. It is called "Happy Bird" and can be found on Ravelry.

July Primetime KAL Project

WIP Pic

Finished Pic

I feel like I have really knit this last month because I was working on this blanket and now I know why I hate knitting blankets... too long, too boring and too many stitches. I figured that it was 100 sts wide, 40 rows per stripe and 5 stripes, therefore 20000 stitches of garter stitch and that's not including the border..ugh. The only great thing about it is that my little 3 year old recipient LOVED it and hugged and cuddled it...lol.
I used 6 balls of Vanna's Choice worsted at 170yrd/ball (so 1000 yrds).. Thank the Lord, it is all finished!

Fresh-picked cardy goodness

Here's my July entry for the KAL.  I made the Fresh-Picked Color 3/4-Sleeve Cardigan, but I obviously made the long-sleeved, long-bodied version.  My daughter and I are happy with the results!  I made the smallest size and used ~400 yards of cotton blend yarn.

She's holding the gauge swatch for my current project!
