Prime Time July -- puppy countdown

I'm thrilled that we're finally adding dogs to the family. I've been waiting a long long time for a puppy. Since we're in Europe for another year, we have a few more choices, and we'll come home with some that aren't that common in the US. I'm waiting for Grep, a Kooikerhondje (a Dutch spaniel), and Marc is looking for Trogdor, a Sarplaninac (a Serbian shepherd). It's a bit like a European bringing a Chinook or a Bluetick home. Anyway, I crocheted Grep a blanket this month. Almost a pound of acrylic held double, well over 500 yards (almost 1200 yards of single-strand). No way am I putting Mini Mochi or Sausalito in a puppy bed.

That's not my puppy. It's just gratuitous cuteness. But Grep will look something like that.

July KAL

For a quick project, I did up a hybrid slipper sock. The top part of the sock is crocheted and the remainder of the sock is knitted. This project took 3/4 of a skein of "I Love This Yarn". Details on how I made this are found here.
My main project is my "Christmas Socks"  This is  my original pattern found here.

The forever socks in July

Second pair of socks done in July. In-Between Socks. I think these socks took the longest to complete. They were my in-between projects/ easy pattern. Started in February and done on July 25th.  My own pattern, toe up with heel flap, 312 yds of Austermann Step on US 1 1/2.

Red Rock Canyon Shawl

This will be for August.
Pattern: Abyssal
Yarn: CPY Meringue (note: athough this has been D/C -- you can still find it. It is great to work with. Wool with a bit of stretch built in. It has a bit of texture to it, but still shows off lace & cable patterns. I have gotten some at LYS --when I travel-- and also computer shopping & ebay.)
Color: Ember Glow
Needles: 10.5US
******
This shawl is from the bottom up. 4-5 inches of a "feather and fan lace pattern" and then short rows to finish up. The original pattern has two types of yarn -- fingering and an alpaca.....but I think this is one of those GDM (gauge doesn't matter) projects. I think I will have to start a catagory in my Ravelry library for GDM projects, because lately, I seem to enjoy using yarns which were not originally intended!! I think this will take about 3 - 4 skeins (123 yds)...or somewhere around 369 - 492 yds
