May Project

My May Project was a scarf/wrap for my Mom as it is her Birthday and Mother's day all within a week. I made a scarf called Athabasca Spring by Melissa McColl. It was a free pattern on Ravelry and her scarf was so beautiful that I had to make it. I couldn't find the same yarn here at my LYS, so I improvised. I used the full skein of Punta Merisoft wool (197 yrds) and about half (135 yrds) of Araucania Ruca which is made of 100% sugarcane (who knew you could make yarn out of sugarcane?)(and no it's not sweet.. I licked it to check..LOL).

The result is a beautiful drapey wrap/scarf that would be warm enough on a cool spring/summer evening, or a soft warm scrunched up scarf in the winter. The finished picture doesn't do it justice, but it was the best I could do. The Ruca is so soft and shiny and is a great contrast to the soft, warm Punta wool.

May Socks

Here are my "hospital socks". I thought I would finish these faster, but at least they are finished! I am delighted at how well the stripes match up in the 2 socks. There's a first time for everything!! The yarn is ONline Supersock 100 and I used approximately 350 yards.

Sox on the Beach for May!

Socks on the Beach

Here is the beginning of Adrienne's Sox on the Beach pattern from The Knitter's Sock of the Month Club. I was making them for a friend who liked my Sleep Walker socks but I think that I like them too much to give them away! The pattern shows up so much better in the Berroco Sox.

WIP for May

My current project is Running With Scissors socks:Now that I'm done the fun part, though, I might cast on for something else as well (so I'm not sure I'll finish these this month).

Also, my prize yarn from the Olympics KAL has arrived safely - thanks so much! I'll be perusing Ravelry for project ideas.

Vacation on the Beach

VACATION....It was really hard to do. Our daughter's job sent her to work in Calif. They paid for her to stay in a 2 Bedroom/2 Bath Condo on the Beach....Repeat ON THE BEACH. We thought being the great parents we are we should go use that second bedroom and check this out. Started the sock at the airport. Sox on the Beach by Adrienne. This picture is the first leg of the trip (pun intended, even though I knit 2 at once). I impressed myself with how I placed the pattern so I could just knit and gaze.
Ok, SeaTac, Ken holding up the socks to the departure board. We were gonna be on that Alaska Flight to San Diego. YIPPPPEEE
Finished the socks so had to take some Beach pictures. It is strange to see an upside down sock picture, I know I am sorry, but I do not know the photo program very well yet. The stringy stuff is seaweed that was all over. I probably could have knitted a pair of socks with it.

Ahhhhh, the ocean.........
OH did I forget to mention I had another pair done that wanted to go to Calif for the ride and photo shoot. Yes I did back to back pairs to try the different sizes.

So again AHHHHHHH ....the beach.....

My daughter and I both wearing our Sox on the Beach socks..If only we could have taken pictures of the looks we received from people when posing for this shot. Priceless.

Well, I didn't get anything completed in April, too many festivals, too little time. But here is something I finally finished in May...
