Oak Creek Socks

And some of you thought I didn't know how to knit on toothpicks!!
Finished these off on a trip to Phoenix for mil's 75th birthday party. Knit with about .8 skeins of Supersocke 100 in sierra-effect (about 344 yards). on size 3 toothpicks. Started around December 10th, finished today, december 31st. I know that they could use a good blocking, but they ended up on someone's feet before I had a chance. Pattern is a hand written generic sock pattern that I had stashed in an old knitting bag a few years back. No idea where it originally came from.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Everyone! I've really enjoyed reading through your posts and being inspired by your projects. Quite a few have ended up in my queue on Ravelry.

I finished 10 pairs of socks for Christmas presents - making the total 18 pairs. One pair for each of my family - except my poor Mother. But, it has become a tradition that I don't finish at least one of her gifts and give her the yarn, needles, and pattern wrapped. Out of Crystal Palace Yarn, I finished these socks for my niece. Using just under one ball of Mini Mochi in Jenny Lake (173 yards), these are Cinnamon Bay Socks by Phyll Lagerman. Knit up on 2.0mm. http://www.ravelry.com/projects/sdhsmc86/cinnamon-bay-socks-by-phyll-lagerman

To finish out the year, I wanted to try the Noro Keyhole Pattern again, this time actually making the keyhole. I got some Mochi Plus in Blueberry Pancakes on sale at my LYS. This is a quick knit on US10 needles and used about 140 yards. http://www.ravelry.com/projects/sdhsmc86/noro-keyhole-scarf-2

Looking forward to sharing 2012 with all of you!

December Prime Time

Here's my December project! It's called Billion Dollar Hat and is from the book Punk Knits. I used 3.5 skeins of Paton's Classic Wool held double, which comes out to 365 yards (735 total yardage, but only one "strand" counts). Made this with two size 10 circulars at the beginning and switched it all over to one circular as I was doing the brim.

WIP - I think I'm about halfway down the hat here

Unfelted!  I'm like The Scarecrow. =D

Finished!

kal is moving to ravelry!

after reading your comments and looking at the polls (which are finally “helpful”), i’ve decided to move the Carefree KALs to ravelry starting in january. we will finish the current prime time kal on the blog.

the plan will be to have a “no chat” thread for you to post your progress and finished pix. i will use that thread to track your completion for the kal. i will talk to susan about prizes for 6/12 finishers. if you wish to donate a prize for non cpy finishers, please pm (or email) me with what you what to donate. everyone who finishes the kal would be eligible for the non-cpy drawing. only those who complete 6/12 would be eligible for the cpy drawing.

please keep your membership in the Carefree Blog, just in case things need to change.

if you are not a member of ravelry, please join us over there. our group is "crystal palace yarns: kal's and other things."

December Prime Time - PHEW

I nearly blew it. Thought I couldn't finish out the year... I'm dealing with a very sore elbow and my knitting has been quite limited,
BUT I had this pair that I forgot to post! I think Tour de Sock left me slightly loopy. It didn't do my elbow any favors. This is my second pair from Panda Soy. The pattern is Waterslide from the Six Sox KAL. 300 yards.

Prime Time KAL - 12/11 Finished!!!

For December I knit a hat for my daughter, Tracie using Dream in Color yarn (with cashmere) from a Sept 2011 DIC Club and Van's Twisted Rib Hat which was a fun pattern. It had a brim you flipped up so you knitted the rib using the reverse side. I used size #7 needles for it. Then I knit a scarf from stash yarn for my Church. I used size 13 needles and crocheted around the edge and added fringe. Finally I knit a rifle scope cover for my sil. No pattern available so I drew a pattern using the dimensions so hopefully it will fit his rifle. I used size 7 needles and Red Heart Woodsy yarn.

December KAL

He are my projects for the year long KAL, I did a knitted scarf, a knitted hat, and a crocheted hat. It is hard to believe that the year is over.

December KAL

Here is my final entry of the year!  Whew!  I finished it just in time for us to leave town.

I made the Out of My Head Shawlette.  I knitted the pattern as written.  It used an interesting (slightly confusing) method to get started that I think I did properly. I screwed up the lace pattern a time or two which required many anguished sighs and much teeth grinding to get back on track. (The pattern requires at least 350 yards and I reckon I used at least that much.)

I think it turned out okay although I wish it was a little bigger. I seriously need a lesson in blocking.  I honestly don't know how to do it to good result.

Happy New Year to everyone!
