Mystery Socks!

Here's my pair of Mystery Socks! The yarn is Lion Brand LB 1878 in Claret, which I over-dyed with blue food coloring because I was tired of the original color. These have the plain heel and and the fancy instep.

Thanks for the great pattern! A KAL ended up being the motivation I needed to actually finish a pair of socks.

52-week september and mystery sock!

Hi, had to stop on the socks and do a dishcloth and scrubbie for my MIL's birthday. I used tulle cut into 1 inch strips and Peaches and Creme. The tulle is kind of rough to work with but after you use these for the first time you will be hooked and need to make your own for you. I know it is crochet but I have not found a pattern for a circle in knitting that I like (any ideas?) After both circles are done they are put together. My MIL loves them and they clean all of our pots without damaging them (plus they are machine washable.) I no longer buy sponges but make my own! So much cheaper and cuter too. Super fast project I will probably finish them in a day or so. I will add the yardage on the finished project. Then, back to the socks and a dishcloth set for my Aunt Judy who is moving soon.

Socks

I started these after frogging the first clue of the Mystery socks. Why, I don't know, but this pair had to become a pair of prayer socks. (Secret Prayer Sock Swap) The design is made by me and beside praying for my partner I also found comfort when I picked my knitting back up after the sudden passing of my pappa. A special pair they are...

I used CPY Panda Superwash Evening Blues (2 balls) and 350 meters in yardage went into this pair. Enough to make this count as my September project.

Okay, I'm still working on the mystery kal, but I do have a fo for September. This yarn is from the Sock Yarn Cinema Club, and I'm finally done with that pair of socks. (we're not going to discuss the # of wips I have, are we?)

As usual, my pictures don't match color wise. The first one was in the middle of the night when I got the *great* idea of taking a pic of the sock in progress with the part of the movie that inspired the yarn. Yep, I'm hopeless. The other one I took this evening on my daughter's feet. I used about 390 yards of yarn. It was a fun knit and kept me company for a few swim meets. Now it's time to make progress on what I'm calling Maizy's Mystery.

Two! Two mystery socks that don't fit! Ah ah ah!

Well I finished my mystery socks! They are too big, but since they are my first pair of socks, I forgive them. I think I will run some elastic through the cuff to help hold them up.

One is being (poorly) blocked on my ghetto hanger blocker, and the other is dry already. I'll probably pull the wet one in to shape more as it dries.

I used Knit Picks palette, and the colorway is "Orange". Real original, I know, but it works! The beads are size 6/0 Dyna-mites, square holed, silver lined, orange rainbow.

More Mystery Socks!

It is a dark, gloomy, rainy day here today so these aren't the greatest pictures, but I finished the mystery socks last night and couldn't wait to share them!

Finished Mystery Sock

I finished my Mystery sock last night at my knitting group meetup, and all the women loved it! (What's not to love, right?!)

I used Crystal Palace Maizy in the Deep Rose colorway.

Cuddles and Hugs Baby Blanket

I was at the lys and saw this yarn. I fell for it as it was so pretty. The colors in the start picture are not very good. Well rotten for that matter. But, I wanted to play with this yarn so I decided to create a baby blanket. I used 3 skeins at 293 yards a skein. Took a few cast ons to figure out how many stitches to use.
I had a bit of yarn left over so made a hat to match. I so love this blanket. It is hard to capture the colors. Hat looks a bit funny as I used some yarn to attach it to the blanket. It is not loose threads laying on it. I am not a real fan of pom poms so I did an i-cord knot at the top.

Then here because the first one's colors did not show very well...I did what most knitters do???? I casted on a second blanket in another color.Yes Adrienne I am writing up the pattern. Should be ready before you knit a "PAIR" of socks.

alpaca slipper socks

I Just finished these Arwen slipper socks from Tabitha's Heart designs out of our friend's 8 ply alpaca and love them so much I'm going to knit another pair immediately so I won't be without them during the cold storm we're having now. I knit the heel on a smaller needle since my foot is so narrow and grafted the toe at 16 sts instead of 12 to fit my foot better. First sock knit with 2 very stiff circs. UGH. 2nd sock knit one needle size larger with KP options and magic loop. Pure joy. Wonderful slippers and a fast and easy knit. Christmas gift knitting to begin soon. :)

Finished Mystery socks

These were finished days ago, but I finally got some not-so-great pictures! I did a little bit of bling on the big toes. I wanted something subtle, and the left toe was the first…way too subtle! The right toe is more like it. Didn’t feel like completely redoing the left toe…so I have a little bling, and a lot of bling!!!

I used Plymouth Dye for Me Happy Feet...which I then dyed, of course! The colour doesn’t show quite true. The colour is a greyish-bluish-greenish colour, like the ocean on a foggy day.

Progress, progress!

I finished set of dishcloths. Count the yardage for 2 of them at 273.5 yds. Yarn is Lily Sugar 'n Cream in violet Veil and Cornflower about 1 ball per cloth.

I'm working on Mystery sock clue 4.

I finished the red stealth socks.

One pair of socks

...I had totally forgotten about to post...
I had knit this pair in early Summer (June) and the pattern of this pair is released in Yarn Forward issue 18. Roses socks. Made out of Panda Cotton (2 balls) and 1 ball Panda Superwash in the colour Joyful.

52 Week Challenge & Mystery Sock KAL-Brenda (Owlsrook)

Here are my finished Mystery KAL Socks - I knit these on dpns, using Kroy Sock Yarn in a Colour called "Muslin". Used 380 yards of yarn, and thought for a few minutes that I was going to run out of yarn. Each ball held 195 yards. So very little left.

It was a really great KAL and the pattern is beautiful. Or "Simply Lovely".

I am really interested to see the diversity of colours that will be used for this KAL, as well as the many types of yarn.

I finished my socks, but I misread the instructions and kept knitting the instep with the same pattern until it was time for the toe. I love everyone else's socks. I will definitely knit this pattern again but the next time I promise to follow the instructions better! Thanks for the pattern Adrienne.

first sock finished

I made a boo boo reading the instructions and didn't do enough of the 4 row pattern, so had a bit more of the plain knitting than I should. So I decided to put a heart which I'll see when my feet are up knitting by the fire which represents this whole experience. I will knit another pair the correct way very soon. The second sock is almost finished. :) Razzle is happy that he will get a bit more attention now that this is off the needles.

One down, one to finish!

28 rows finished on the first sock. Love the way it tapers down. I really like the heel and how it fits snuggly. I know I'll be making another pair of these soon. I found that solid or nearly solid colors makes a big difference with this pattern. I started it in a couple of other yarns and they fought with the lovely stitch design.
I think this is the best sock pattern EVER!

August FO

I see that I forgot to post a finished project in August. I finished these socks August 30. They are for one of my daughters whose birthday is today. Yarn is Patons Kroy Sock 4 ply in blazing blue. The pattern will be available soon. I used 292 yards of yarn.

I think I got distracted by the mystery sock. I have started clue 4 on one sock.

52 week challenge for September

This shawl is loosely based on Gabriel's Wings. Instead of using a skein of Noro sock yarn, I am using many different odds and ends of sock yarn in my stash. None of it is labeled but there may even be some CPY in it before I am finished. I'm doing a solid color (Knitpicks Risata in Dusk) in-between each patterned yarn and will probably keep it going until I run out!

I finally remembered to post a picture of my mystery socks-in-progress. I really like this pattern Adrienne, it fits beautifully! The yarn is Plymouth Happy Feet which I first dyed a silvery-grey, then overdyed with blue and green, trying to create the look of the ocean on a foggy day.

My DH gave me such a lovely compliment on these socks: David said that if I wore these to Las Vegas, we would be asked to leave the casino, because the players would be looking at my socks, instead of playing!! Awwwwh, what a guy!!

Not enough time to knit

Adrienne knows already. I can't work on the mystery socks at the moment. I frogged the first clue and started an easier pair of socks that needs to be finished soon. But in the coming weeks there will not be much time to knit. At the moment we're in the process of packing, and we'll be moving to a bigger house in a nearby town. Exciting, but also a lot to organize. I'll keep you posted though!

52-week progress for Sept.

Hi, finally feel like I have something to post. I am on the second set of the rounds on the first sock ( I know I am behind!) Loving the Happy feet yarn and my new Kollage square needles and the cool design! Hopefully I will finish in time. I am doing a 70 Co but with 2.25 needles. I might add more if it is too short for me. Any ideas on that? Hope to catch up when the Katie goes back to school.

Finished my Mini Mochi Double Knit Hat on Aug 31st. Used 328 yds. Now the hat covers my ears. It has a deep crown for 'floppy' look. Love it. (The 'original' only used 242 yds and was snug fit.)

Calophi's Mystery Sock Kal

Well, I kept forgetting to post my updates here on the blog, though I remembered to do it on Ravelry. I don't think it's necessary to picspam my progress, so here's the latest picture of my finished clue 3.

I am using KnitPicks pallet: Orange, and the beads are Dyna-Mites square-holed, silver-lined, orange-rainbow. I skipped a repeat in clue 2 because I really wanted the beads to stand out and I didn't want more repeats to take away from that top row.

My gauge is a bit bigger than what is called for, especially my row gauge on the heel flap. I guess it's a good thing that I did the simple heel. I don't mind, though, my calf is 10 inches and not 9, so the sock fits quite nicely.

I think I'm doing pretty good so far for my first pair of socks!

Another pair of socks, these were a lot of fun to knit, and are certainly my best effort yet at 2-color knitting. Based on Judy's Kick-Back 2-Color Socks (I really hope I have the name right) from sockknitters.com, the yarn is KP Swish, discontinued colors. Also included is the start of a helmet-liner for a friend's grandson's armed forces company:

mystery socks so far

The "sea gray" color doesn't show properly in my camera, but it a lovely light teal. I had started this project with 2 other yarns and they weren't showing the stitches to advantage. I'm loving this pattern and will knit it again soon. Now that I finally started using the fabulous magic loop method, I think the second sock syndrome won't have such a hold on me. Of course, it could also mean I have double the WIPs. :)

What a wonderful pattern - Thank you Adrienne!!! I know I'm not very far along- but on to Clue 2 tonight. I love seeing everyone's choice of yarns. I tried several sock yarns but between gauge and showing off the pattern I ended up choosing Dream in Color Smooshy sock yarn in the color - Beach Fog. I really like it. I'm using size 2 dpn. 52 Week Challenge - August - finished project

See my project for August. You definitely might get an impression of my A-line shaped body :-). This will be a very cozy, soft and warm sweater used as a shield against the stormy weather we will have within some weeks from now.

Fall is my favourite season of the year: Wonderful and unique sunlight, soft and golden, the earth under your feet not yet too cold, fresh winds and all the beautiful colours that go with autumn leaves and fruit and nuts and late blossoms. As a welcome side effect I can breathe and forget allergies for a while. How I love this time of the year!

Material for the sweater is merino extrafine in darkest green, yardage for certain along the rules.
