Finished February Project

Here is my finished project for February. This is the Aran Print Eyelet Knit Scarf pattern off the straw.com web page. I used three balls of Crystal Palace Aran Print in the Birch Bark color (#2114). About 306 yards and finished size unblocked is 6" by 64". I haven't had time to block it yet but am happy with the result already. The pattern chart is easy to follow and the yarn works up well in the lace pattern. The color is really nice - the different brown tones blend well together. I'll post a better photo once blocked and pretty!

Aran Print Eyelet Knit Scarf

I have started my second project for February. I found the Aran Print Eyelet Knit Scarf pattern on the straw.com website and liked the looks of it. I am using Crystal Palace Aran Print in the Birch Bark color. It is knitting up quickly and I think is going to come out very well.

Birthday Cowl - Finished

I have finished the Birthday Cowl pattern for my swap group and am very happy with the results. The pattern is a super easy knit. I used about 200 yards of Cascade Soft Spun for this in a nice cloud blue color. Finished size is about 9" x 21". This yarn is incredibly soft and reminded me of Malabrigo. I am hoping my swap partner will like it as much as I do! I had never made a cowl before and really like them now.

Birthday Cowl Pattern

I have cast on a new project. This one is for a new swap group I have joined. It is my first cowl I have knitted and am really liking it so far. I am doing the Birthday Cowl pattern and I am using Cascade Soft Spun in a really nice cloud blue color. The yarn is almost as soft as Malabrigo which is nice. My partner is over in England too so I'm hoping she will like it. =)

Show-off Stranded Socks - Complete For January

I had happened to find this yarn at my LYS and was really taken with the primary colors. I thought that the stranded pattern would work well with the bright colors and never realized this is actually a “little kid” sock yarn!

The pattern was an easy knit and is a very interesting construction. Instead of a standard heel flap and gusset, you actually knit the leg pattern all the way down the back of the leg and put an inverted triangle gusset as you work down. I did mine in a double moss stitch but the pattern has instructions on two other stitches also.

The pattern does eat the yarn up fast though. I used all of the two skeins and had to do the toe of each sock in Knit Picks Essential “Dusk” in order to finish. Probably about 460 yards total.

This is also the fastest I’ve done socks so far. I did the second sock in only 6 days! That may not be fast for some but produced my first knitting related callous!

As you can see my puppy Poky likes them too! =)

Show-off Stranded Socks

OK I cast on my first project for 2010 on New Years Eve. I have about 4" done right now on the first sock and just wish I could knit faster! This is the "Show-off Stranded Sock" pattern from Ravelry and also my first pattern I'm hoping to complete using magic loop. I am using Flusi das Socken-monster yarn from Regia in #01802. I just really liked the primary colors and didn't realize this is little kid sock yarn! LOL

I had been hoping to start with a Crystal Palace yarn project but my order from Yarnmarket didn't come in until yesterday (My LYS doesn't carry - boo hiss!). I do have some lovely yarn waiting for the next project though and can't wait!
