November prime time footies for moi

Adrienne's Llama, llama, duck pattern. I shortened the cuff and did a plain foot with a star toe to fit me. This yarn is Nightfall in royal blue colorway by Fibrofibers. I used the entire skein and got 2 pairs of the footies. 490 yds and I have very little left. It is much nicer after having a bath which softened the yarn quite a bit.

Great pattern which I will make in a longer version for the winter. Probably one of my entries for next year before our winter starts in June. I'd start it now, but I have so many wips I've almost lost count. I'd love to finish them before the new year. Wish me luck...LOL

Joyette started

I started another Joyette for myself using a DK wt cotton I've had for about 25 years. I just came across it recently and knew right away what I wanted to knit with it. :) I'll probably finish this next month since I'm also doing the Jasmine scarf KAL + knitting a pair of socks for Fred's birthday. Good thing I've had a lot of insomnia lately...

June Primetime KAL another hitchhiker

I took out the blocking pins yesterday and hoped to get a pic of Lisa wearing it, but she's away for the day. I'll post one when I can. The purple yarn was dyed in the crock pot with Wilton's violet frosting dye. The odds and ends of the mini mochi are little treasures to be saved and used for accents when I can. I think it makes all the difference in this project. :) 42 teeth which I think is a great size.

Primetime May Joyette

I used DK wt yarn for this 2nd Joyette and it took exactly 3 skeins including using the leftover 8 gms from the shawl to make an i-cord for a closure. I started it on May 10 in the evening and was blocking it on the 15th. I gave the first Joyette to a friend and as I started this one for myself, I realized it was meant for our corgi's vet, Lisa. I think of it as a rose for her from Razzle. It is hard to grow roses where we live because the roos eat them, so this one works great as a hug in rose color from all of us. He is now at peace next to her dog on her farm near us. Fred grabbed some hollyhock seeds from a plant we love and the 3 of us sprinkled them on top of his grave. Amazingly, the flowers are this color instead of our others which are a pale pink.

I'll take a pic of her wearing it when we can finally deliver it most likely next week. This was another case of knitting being therapeutic and healing. I hope she feels the love knit into it.

April Prime Time entry: Joyette

This was such a pleasure to make that I will make another one in DK wt yarn soon. It looks much more complicated than it is. Easy, enjoyable knit that produces a lovely shawl in several options for sizing. I have many more details on my Ravelry Peacockmom project page. Bellsisters Design is clearly written and resulted in my first successful crocheted edging. I can just see this in cream for a bride. :) My next will be in some shade of aqua or teal. What a surprise...

Joyette by Bellsisters Designs

I'm loving this pattern with lots of leaves. It is MUCH easier than it looks and going quickly. The pattern calls for DK wt yarn (or fingering which means a lot more rows to knit). I'm glad I chose the fingering which is what I had in my stash because this is like a good book that you enjoy so much you don't want it to end, yet can't stop reading. I'm using pigeonroof siren two sock yarn which is lovely and makes a great fabric. I plan to make another one in DK wt. The pic here shows 2 rows short of the medium size so you can see I have a lot more rows in the fingering weight to go. "No worries, mate" as they say here. I'm truly enjoying this project.

Prime Time March: No Purl Monkeys

Patonyle cream yarn dyed in crock pot using Wilton's food coloring. I changed the pattern slightly by alternating 5 knit and purl rounds instead of ribbing, used eye of partridge heel and only one lace repeat into the instep. Then plain until 6 pointed star toe. I used 4 different sizes of needles decreasing in size from 2.75mm to 2.00mm. Fun and easy pattern to knit from knitty winter 2006. Look at Ravelry for No Purl Monkeys and there is a chart from "Crafty Pancakes" on the page that will come up. This pattern is based on Cookie A's popular Monkey socks.

Avalon Socks for Fred Feb entry

Before I say anything about the socks, a big thank you for Susan's generosity: 2 balls of Panda cotton and some bamboo dpns. :) I will be making some footie type socks as soon as the yarn arrives.

Fred loves this pattern and I've knit about 4 pair now. He prefers the plain instep as you can tell.

I made these for him to wear at the Avalon Air Show the first week in March. The colors are a blend of the American and Aussie flag which seems appropriate for showing an American plane in Oz. :)

January Prime Time entry

Fred and his 3 passengers were extremely lucky when our engine failure caused a crash landing last July minutes after flying over crocodile infested waters in the Kakadu National Park close to Darwin. We hope to get her back in the air in a week or two, and I made all of the crash surviors their own baby gator (renamed a croc and with teeth added) and gave presented them last Saturday when we finally got together again. Shirley now lives in Brunei and comes home when she can.

The pattern is fun to make and although it looks like a lot of work and fiddly, it really isn't. The directions are excellent and if you follow each step in order, you will have a baby gator in a short time. The "mama" used the same pattern with double strands of the yarn and 7mm needles instead of 3.75 with a single strand of yarn for the babies. I used Kid 'n Ewe worsted for the green and Merino Magic Dk wt for the red mouths. The first one used worsted cotton for the mouth and I found the lighter weight yarn fit into the green jaws a bit easier. I magic looped them and think that made a difference in ease of making them. They are also cuter before all the teeth, and maybe 3 teeth would be my choice next time.

I saw the red mouth done on Kcarlyle's project page for the Baby Gators by Anna Hrachovec of Mochimochi Land patterns. See "baby gators" for pattern info on Ravelry. I wrote to Kate and to Anna (designer) and each wrote back an encouraging reply with the free pattern information. I'm hooked on these little tiny projects and have more planned with the patterns I did buy from Anna. Stay tuned for some cuties in the future.

I became "friends" with Kate who has joined our Carefree KAL I'm happy to say and also with Anna who is going to use some pics of the Kakadu incident and the baby crocs in a future posting on her blog. :) Knitters are such special people and sure do bring us closer together. Amazing when I think about Kate being in Saudi Arabia, Anna in New York and I'm in the bottom of Australia. :)

The map dishcloths as well as the round cloths are by Rhonda White who is one my favs for fun and interesting short projects. I am never disappointed when I choose one of her designs. I decided to use a provisional cast on and then kitchener for the last round cloth and think it makes a much nicer finish.

The guest towel became a face cloth for the guest bathroom. I decided it was too narrow for the guest towel I had envisioned. Another project for another time. I still have to finish the December socks for Fred and hope to have them ready by Valentine's Day. They won't count for February, I know, but I'll have him model them and post the pic when he does get them.

My entry is made up of several projects and does exceed the minimum of 300 yds for sure :).
