"Love washcloth" by Heather Mountain, free on Ravelry. I added 10 stitches to the pattern so I could have a 5 stitch seed border on both sides and added 5 rows bottom and top in seed stitch. 3.5mm needle in 8 ply cotton from Bendigo.

"Knitted Apple Cloth" by Rhonda K. White (also free on rav) in 10 ply cotton with 3.75mm needles.

Lily (part of future gift category entry)

Pattern is "Muguets (Lily) Dishcloth" by Danielle Cote available free on Ravelry. I made 5 repeats to make it more of a square. Loved making this pattern which is fast and easy. I started it last night and finished it about noon today and realized I had not taken a progress pic to post yet, hence the binding off photo. I will add it to the group of blocked cloths when I make the final entry. Definitely making more of this one for gifts. 8 ply cotton from Bendigo Mills here in Oz using 3.5mm needles.

holiday gift entry progress :)

Both patterns from knitwits heaven and took less than a day from casting on. I finished the house last night and cast on for the peacock and finished all but the binding off this evening. I forgot to take a progress pic, so didn't bind off. Better pics when blocked. I think I will use a smaller needle for the next peacock. 8 ply cotton for the peacock using 3.5mm needles that I used for the daffodil. 10 ply cotton for the house. 4mm needles. Will make a yellow house soon and a blue peacock.

I wanted to post the beginning of the house cloth started today after finishing the daffodil cloth. I will block it and post with the others when all are ready for a gift category entry, but thought you'd like to see the finished cloth since it is so pretty. I bought a peacock pattern today and have already started. What a surprise... :) These are certainly enabling the second sock syndrome to go into overdrive! But they are fun and I will be gifting them at Thanksgiving (I hope).

progress in gift for Cheryl

I started this Daffodil cloth by Alli Barrett yesterday and this pic is through row 44 of 64 rows. I will take a pic of all of the cloths when they are finished, blocked, and ready to gift. I need to get these ready to send back with our Thanksgiving houseguest so I'm working on them steadily. Bendigo 8 ply cotton and 3.5mm needles. Cheryl's new house has yellow in the kitchen and she loves daffodils. I can hardly wait to see her face when she opens the bundle of cloths. :)

holiday gift progress

I am making a set of dishcloths for a friend who has a new house and thought I'd better post this start before I lose it. I will post all the finished items together for 1 gift entry as soon as I collect enough finished.

This is the leaf cloth from the mid-Sept KAL in the yahoo group. Using up more of the ancient stash of cotton I'm so glad I have. :)

Holiday gift (part 2 of 3 chemo hats for Susie entry)

10 ply cotton and 4.00mm needles using 70 gms of yarn at least 15 years in my stash. :) I started this Hurricane hat on Oct 28th and finished it easily on the 29th. Free pattern by Andrea Gourtier on Ravelry. Definitely will make more of these. Fast and easy knit; fun to make. Love the results. Summer is approaching here and I think this will be a welcome hat for Susie to protect her noggin when she has lost all her hair. I plan to make another one using DK wt and a few more stitches on the needle.

Tretta hat finished (part of holiday gift)

I finished this hat and thought I'd post it before gifting it tomorrow. I hope to eventually get some pics of Susie wearing the 3 hats I plan to make for her. This is the first and the next will be in cotton since summer is close here. I weighed this hat finished and it is 62 gms of Panda wool (knit doubled). Loved making this. Notice how the pattern is a bit like a peacock feather? If you want to knit a gift that looks like you spent a lot of time and effort (and didn't) this is the hat for you. :)

I used a 4mm needle for it and think I'd use a 4.5 next time for someone with hair. It stretches a lot, but I'd like it a bit roomier. Probably the way I knit and I think it will be just fine for Susie's hairless noggin. At the point in the pattern where it was starting the decrease, I measured 6 1/4" instead of the 5 3/4" in the directions. I don't think that is a bad thing. That is 39 rounds at the point of the decrease rounds and it is what it is. :)

I figure 3 hats will count as one holiday gift entry if that is OK with our gurus.

first hat of 3 for holiday gift

I started this hat yesterday for our friend who is beginning another round of chemo and think it is going to be perfect for her. The pattern called for DK wt, so Adrienne suggested I use 2 strands of my favorite ultramarine CPY Panda wool and it is coming out just beautifully. I will post the next 2 hats as I begin them and then all 3 will be for one entry in the holiday gift category. This pattern is easy to follow and I'm sure I will make more from it in the future. Tretta hat from Grumperina. I chose it partly because it stretches for a range of sizes and also because I think it is pretty. :)

holiday gift for me finished :)

I finished Adrienne's "Forever and a Day" pattern known by my husband as "THE SCARF" and love it. I had 4 gms left from 2 balls of CPY Panda wool/bamboo in ultramarine and it blocked to 10" x 46". Before blocking it was 9.5 x 31.5". I plan to make another for a gift as soon as some mini mochi intense rainbow arrives. That scarf will probably be close to Adrienne's original of 60" length since I will be using the same yarn; the recipient is almost 6' tall so longer will be better for her. I hope to post a picture of it on Susie when I give it to her.

This pattern is a lot of fun to make and the buttonholes and buttons are very easy to line up since the buttons are sewn on top of the opposite buttonholes while closing them. Very clever pattern which I think will be even more fun to knit with mm since the colors change and that keeps me easily entertained. I do love that yarn. :)

September holiday or not KAL entry

Another pair of Macho socks by Prague Loop using Bendigo Luxury 8 ply Merino wool. I dyed these a darker color than the previous pair which I gave to our friend, Chris. Fred prefers this darker color. Dyed using Wilton's cornflower + a dash of ordinary blue food coloring splashed (with some water to dilute it a bit) over in the crock pot.
