Holiday gift or not KAL 4

Housewarming gift for a friend in England. I made a girly hand towel (Lacy Face Towel by Dianna Stevens) for Anna and used my own pattern for a more masculine hand towel for Neil. :) The yarn is Bernat Gloucester sport at 110 yds/50 gms and I used 103 gms (2 skeins and a bit of a 3rd). I'm showing Anna's gift so you can see it with Neil's. I made Anna's in August so it doesn't count, but forgot to share it. I made Neil's in September/October.

Holiday or not KAL 4

Yippee! I just realized the minimum for each project posted is 200 yds so I don't have to add another goodie to qualify for this posting. Whew! This is another pair of "mostly Adrienne" (same recipe as my previous post using the Madeline Tosh yarn) footies using Panda cotton. I have 26 gms left from the 2 skeins which totaled 100 gms. Very comfy for summer. :) About 240 yds for the pair. color is "misty greens".

We're going to need a bigger boat.......

Present for the Hubby, who played Rugby with the Northern Arizona Landsharks Rugby Football Club. Can't wait for the next tournament......or perhaps the International Sevens in Las Vegas??
Started sometime in November, finished 12/9/11. Based on Pattern: Shark Hat

Used (Mostly) Lion Brand Tweed, 124 grams, 210 yards. Small amount of Pattons wool in pinky/red color, and white fingering yarn for the eyes & teeth. I did the teeth a bit differently -- as a picot edging that was stitched in between the upper lip and mouth. Eyes are little ball buttons surrounded by I cord. My rav page: We're going to need a bigger boat....

Think he'll be surprised??

Special thanks for the RAK gift of the lovely red stitch markers.

Another gift for Holiday KAL

These socks are for my grandson, who has small feet, so I'm including a scarf for another grandchild.

This was knit in one 24 hour period. The yarn had no label and I don't know the yardage.

The socks were started on November 6 and finished on December 6, 2011. Yarn is KnitPicks Stroll in merlot heather color. Needles are US #1 - 2.25mm and the patter is from an old Stahl Socka book.

Holiday Kal 4 #1

Here's my first entry for the holiday KAL. I have another one or two coming depending on what I manage to finish by Saturday.

This is the Bunratty Baby Blanket and it was done in sport weight baby yarns. I used two different kinds of Bernat Baby, and the purple is Loops & Threads. I did this on a G hook.

I only made 36 squares instead of the amount the pattern called for, but because I did this with a continuous braided join instead of mattress stitching the squares together, and then I gave it a border, I'm probably still at 1500 yards or thereabouts. The yarn scale says it weighs 27 oz, but I'm not sure it's being weighed properly, heh.

Sandstorm

These two are gifts!
First is Jessie Hat..from the pattern Jessie's Christmas Hat If you are looking for a quick & fun present...here it is. I will make more of these. The cable turns into smocking, more evident when worn.
Used CPY Aran Print in Sandstorm...little over a skein---about 112 yards knit on 8s & 10s. Very stretchy, will fit most heads....and I all ready have a request for another! Started 12/3 and finished 12/5.

Second is a pair of Owl Mitts....based on Owlings Made out of .98 skeins CPY Aran Print in Sandstorm for a total of 100 yards. Started Nov 24 finished Dec 4.

Holiday KAL 4

2 projects to make up the required yardage since the footies were just shy of 200 yds.

The "Mostly Adrienne" footies are comprised of a cuff from a Claudia Tietze pattern called Sommerliche Sneaker Socken which I really love for the fit and design. It goes from 72 sts to 60 sts and is interesting to knit. I have changed the remainder using Adrienne Fong's Llama, Llama, Duck heel (EOP with garter stitch) which fits me perfectly. Then plain foot and a 6 pointed star toe Adrienne helped me find years ago and is the only one that has ever fit my skinny toes. I will most likely use these Adrienne elements for all my personal socks and just play with the above the ankle part for fun. Opens up a whole new world of knitting fun having socks that fit! :)

The guest towel is made from Cajun Cotton I brought with us 10 years ago. The pattern in Hourglass towel by Kat Mcab. I know I used over 200 yds, but have misplaced my notes. In any event, great pattern and this brings the yardage well over the minimum for a gift project. Gifts for for moi. :) I have made 4 of these towels and given away 3 of them. Nice to use and I will be making more of them. I brought 20 skeins with me. Glad I did since cotton is hard to get here.

The footies weigh 60 gms finished from a 130 gm skein so I have enough to make a second pair. 395 yds in the skein.

Holiday (or not) KAL 4 - Fern Pillow - Finished!

Finally finished and ready for the gift wrap!
Yarn: KnitPicks Palette - 312 yards main colour
Needles: 3.25mm/US3
Started: 1 October 2011
Finished: 3 November 2011

Prime Time KAL - 11/11 Finished

Repeat Performance socks from the Knit Purl Hunter KAL. Cast on 11/05/2011. I used #1 needles for the toe, heel and cuff - #2 for the foot and leg - #3 for the bind off. Used new Sewn Bind Off and short row heel - enjoyed learning some new techniques . This is only my 2nd pair of toe up socks. The yarn is Austermann Royal in Forest Green and it consists of wool, nylon, cashmere and silk. Going to give these to my daughter, Meagan for Christmas.

holiday kal

After I signed up for this year's kal, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to finish anything other than some socks. My curved shawl still needs blocking. Made with 138g (524yds) Berroco Sox Metallic, needles US 7 and 6. Took about a month.
