For Mother's Day I cast on Spring Socks from the Six Sox Knitalong. These were delivered this week to my mother-in-law in Boise while my husband was visiting.
The yarn is CPY Panda Wool in the color Periwinkle. In real life it is much more purple - a pretty twist of purple and light gray.
Socks for own dear mom, a pair from Cookie A, remain unfinished. Mom was on her final day of a lovely trip to San Francisco with my brother and nephew when she suffered a head injury from a fall in her hotel room and passed away the following day with my father and sister at her side. I was able to bury myself in the frenzy of Sock Madness while waiting to hear news and then as I began to figure out how to deal with my grief. These are the SM Round 3 socks finished on my first birthday without my beautiful mom.

So sorry.
Sorry for your terrible loss. Socks are beautiful.knit on. It helped me.
Thank you, all of you. I had such a difficult time posting those words. I think I'll feel quite fragile for a long time, but the knitting is such a source of comfort.
Carol,
So sorry. Hopefully the good memories will soon form a shield against the pain. Keep knitting - I did not knit for about 10 years after my father died, but that was probably because they insisted on opening the coffin so I could see him, and he was in a shawl I'd made him. Wish you were close enough for a nice cuppa and a big hug. aj
{{Hugs}} for you. I finished and sent a beautiful shawl last summer to my mom and just a few days ago saved it from the thrift store donations my sister had prepared.
She actually watched me work on it! Happy to have saved it and not upset at her. We are all pretty stressed these days.
