Dog Days KAL

I can't even remember when I started this hoodie for Haley, my granddaughter. I have enough yarn left to make her a pair of socks to match.... The pattern is #3115 from Sirdar. I used Snuggly Magic DK yarn and size 5 needles on the sweater and size 3 on the borders. I think she will love it ! I am so excited because I finished the 12/12/12 in time - yahoo! I thought I had till the end of the month for the sweater and then I read the details and oops....August 5th. I made that deadline too. Yepee! Where did time ago?

Dang another month slipped away. Being in a few days I am gonna be a Grandma I thought I should make a few more items. Then my daughters friend is also gonna have a little one. So baby booties and hats mode I went to.

My son asked if I could make a pair of camo booties for Carter (yes, my grandson's name). Gee ask and it will happen.
But then had to make a pair for the other baby also. Every male that has seen the camo booties turns to mush. I highly recommend making them to please the males. My son is taking the Camo booties to the hospital.

This was the beginning of the booties. I played with some CPY I happen to have here. The brown is Bunny Hop, the black is Puffin. Both worked up really nice in these. Yes, again made more than one pair from a skein of yarn.

Finally finished a baby blanket that I started wow way back in maybe March. This blanket took many trips with me. It was what I grabbed most times leaving the house. Including 2 trips to Calif.


Here Aran and Lace Baby Blanket is complete. Oh and more booties and hats. Again a camo to make my son happy.
Some items made the future parents came over and took the items home with them before I could snap a photo. Silly kids.

Oh and in case one did not hear....Carter will be born in a few days, so I guess I can make more stuff.

dog days of summer ufo kal will start june 5, 2010 and will end august 5, 2010.

rules will be simple.
1. post a picture of your ufo in current condition. would prefer projects which are not more than 2/3 completed.
2. post a picture of your finished ufo.
3. no ufo? no problem. just post a progress picture of your new project. post a picture of your finished project.
4. label your posts with "dog days kal."
5. no double dipping with 12m/12p/12boy kal.

July and Dog Days finished--finally!

I finally finished the Absorba bathmat for the UFO KAL. I think I have enough cotton to make another but it is going to have to wait til my wrists recover.

Dog Days Finish

Blah, this was a grueling shawl, but I finally finished it last night. A year in the making! I started it in June 2009.

My sock yarn blanket is finished for now. I am totally out of sock yarn scraps and used everything I had.

Length of the blanket is approximately 64 inches, for this little sleeper it is enough. (ca 4500 meters yarn used in total.)

dog days update

Picture time! Two pictures of my sock yarn blanket. It has really been progressing, but I have to put it down for a while. One simple reason to name for it: I am out of sock yarn scraps! I measured 17 1/2 inch after knitting the orange stripe on July 11. Now it is almost 50 inch in length. 30 inch still to go.

Hi, I finished the hat last night. It is the Patchwork Hat by Faina Goberstein. Now, to search for more wip's. (Dang, Cool Beans is talking to me.) I need some coffee! But, I think I am going to work on the Vegas sock first. the gussets are never ending........

Dog Days hat!

Dog days are here! I am working on a hat for my friend. Just fighting the decrease of the pattern. The pattern is Patchwork Hat by Faina Goberstein from the knitscene Winter 2008/Spring 09 magazine. I just had the basketweave above the ribbing done so, (about 1/4 before I started it again.)

Dog Days Progress

I'm making progress on the lace edging for my jacket. Yarn is dishcloth cotton. I may have to shorten the sleeves, but will wash and dry it first.

Dog Days UFO finished

I finished Tanta by Emily Ross and was hoping to get a better picture of it, but Fred has the camera on his trip so I'm posting this now as a completed UFO.
Before blocking it was 14" deep and 51" tip to tip. After it is 10" deep and about 71" tip to tip. I weighed it and it is 196 gms of Miss Babs "yummy sport sock 3 ply". The color is more accurate in the start pic and much prettier than the finished pics show. Yarn is very soft and lovely to knit and even better after a bath for blocking.

July Project and "UFO" Project

I started my UFO KAL project and found that my wrists HATE knitting with cotton--especially 6 strands of cotton on size 11 needles. Meet Absorba-

Then my hubby finished his car restoration project and I needed a project to work on at the car shows he goes to every weekend.

Pattern: Vanilla 76sts socks for the hubby

The socks are also nice to work on when Absorba makes my wrists feel like they are going to break off. ;)

Dog Days - July Update

My UFO Dog Days project is a jacket I started about a year ago. It is 3 color seed stitch, using dish cloth cotton. I have adapted a Vogue Marcy Tilton pattern for knitting. I started the dog days challenge with a jacket body and one sleeve. I now have 2 sleeves and still need edging all around.

I started this one in October 2009

Now this one is done:

I need to block it today as the shawl is curling enormously. Almost 1600 meters are worked in this one, on 3.5 mm needles.

It came ready yesterday as I have been steady working on it for the past two weeks. Five pattern blocks were added since I picked the shawl back up - so 50% was already done.

A pair of wristers in June... made out of Lambswool for the 12/12/12 boy. Design is my own. On its own 180 m of yarn in it, so it goes together with a shawl... designed by Kerrie Allman, can be found in Yarn Forward Magazine issue 16. Also knit in June...

I started this shawl in June 2009, and I last worked on it on 7/21/09 when I mentioned being on row 15 out of 40 for clue #4. I know that seems like more than 2/3rds, but look at this thing. It's a friggin monster. It takes me like an hour just to complete one lace row and one knit row. I picked it up again last weekend for this KAL, and worked on it on and off this week, and I am STILL on clue stupid 4!

Here's a picture of it taken just after clue #3. You can see where I marked the end of clue #2 on this also - there's a light green lifeline going through it.



I'm still on the first skein of this monster, too, but it's almost done. That's 880 yards. I have about 17 rows left of this clue and then the hellish edging, so I figure I'll get through about half the second skein. I'll have to weigh it. I'll snap a picture and post progress of it before I start the edging.

I'll be lucky if I get this finished by the deadline while trying to keep up with 12/12/12. XD

Cotton sweater

I started this project in June 2009. The body is 3-color seed stitch. I learned this technique in a Lily Chin class. The jacket is based on a Vogue sewing pattern and will eventually have lace on all edges.

Here's a close up of the fabric. I am using dishcloth cotton in variegated color I've had for years and years, off white, and sage green.

Dog days UFO project

I started this in May and stopped to knit another Oz shawl, hat for Andrew and socks and 2 cowls for Cheryl. This is just the incentive I need to get back to this. I figure I was at about 30% finished here. Miss Bab's yummy 3 ply sock she says is sport weight. Great yarn and fun pattern.
I also have 3 single socks that need mates I'd like to knit during this time. Not one of them is started yet. Adrienne's Rainbow, Sox on the Beach and a Jeeves for Fred. We'll see how long the discipline lasts. :)
