Easter Socks
I have finished a pair on April 1, from yarn that has been sitting in my stash for a while. I received this yarn in place of a skein of mine that was defective. I have wanted to knit Lacy Scallops Socks since the first time I saw the pattern. But, just never got around to it. Finally it was time. I love how this yarn worked up into the pattern. The yarn is Trekking XXL.
52 week- March

Hi, here is March. Panda Soy socks from winnings of Olympic socks. Co 64 plain knit pair which I will never, never do again (about 365 yds!) It was totally boring and lots of pretties are coming my way! I can send another progress pic farther along if you want me to. One dishcloth for a wedding set (about 31 yds.), and finished childs Noro scarf (about 100 yds.) I put the progreess pics on so there is no hunting. As soon as I learn how to post better I will. Have a wonderful Easter season and happy April knitting.
P.S. I am feeling sooo much better. No more kidney stones (yeah- ouch!) or diverticulitis episodes or pre-menopause yuckies (for now) and I was not pregnant (yeah, Darin just got a vascectomy! Ha, ha that was close!) Thanks for the best wishes and prayers.

April project for 52 week KAL
This is what I cast on for my April project:

The pattern is Sampler Socks from knotions.com .
Yarn is Sockina Cotton. This is a really fun pattern because you knit the faux fair isle in stockinette and then when you get to the solid-colored sections you can try different pattern stitches!
This socks will be for a friend of mine, so I hope they fit her when I'm done!

March Socks
Request from Laura...I did not forget...
A little while ago Dr Laura asked for spring photos...

Wietse and I went to town this morning. On our walk we saw the blooming Forsythia. He wanted to grab the flowers, but alas... only on camera. There was market around the church, as every Wednesday. I bought 10 pairs of socks there, as DH needed some black socks to wear with his work uniform. As I decided to take a different route to walk back, I saw this...

It might be nationalistic, but I thought this was cute!

My March 2009 Projects
Well let's see the things I remembered to take before and after photos of, I need to get better with the before stuff... Maybe April will be the month I get organized, LOLAnyway I digress...
I made 6 dishcloths, the round one is quite large. A cabled baby bib, a bunny blanket buddy and a matching babay washcloth and 19 squares for a charity afghan.
Yardage of yarn? No clue how to track all that but I used almost the whole skein of Cotton Ease for the Blue baby set, an entire skein for the Pink/Black/White round dishcloth, and a whole skein for the green baby bib and the Pink basket weave dishcloth as well.
The charity squares were crocheted not knitted but I used almost 8oz between the 19 squares.
I am pretty sure the combination of all of the above will qualify me yardage wise, and give me my "M" for March.
I am really liking that you keep me motivated to finish my projects. Thanks
Aunt Kathy

52-Week Knitalong

Finally! I spent the last few hours trying to find the pattern for one of my projects this month, but no luck, argh! I really need it as I want to make an adult version to be felted; if it looks familiar to anyone, PLEASE let me know. The pattern contains intructions for both child and adult hats. Above are both in-progress (IP) and finished results. Since I have enough yardage with the next two projects, I am not even going to try and guess how much is in the hat.
Next, I have two new pairs of mittens; the paprika ones used 235yds, the green (with mohair this time!) used probably 220yds. I had the yardage wrong for the February green pair, (they were 210, not 190). I added a few rows to this green pair and they fit much better! It's amazing how much one teeny strand of mohair can change the appearance, both in fuzziness and color, as I used the same base colors in this green pair as I did the lst pair (which are also shown so you can see what I mean). Minimum total this month, 455yds (without the hat, lol).
Anyway, it's good to have last week over; there was a bomb threat at the grade school (no bomb, thank heavens, and the 8th grader responsible turned himself in the same day) where my youngest goes on Wednesday, then we had (180) sheep to be sheared on Saturday. We were short one shearer so it was an all-day affair (Meaning coffee breaks x2, lunch, and supper). The local nursing home/hospital/clinic where my mother-in-law is a resident might have to relocate around 20 residents in order to stay open. I hate the thought of any of them having to move, they are such a wonderful group of people. It stinks.
On an up-note, we were treated to a concert last Friday evening by the Dallas Brass band, with the 7th-8th grade band and the high school band getting to play with them for a few songs. If you ever have the opportunity to see them play, go! They are wonderful!
Nesting

This doesn't really fit into the 52 week or UFO kal, but I thought I'd share anyway since it's knit with so many different Crystal Palace yarns. I designed this set, called Nesting, to be a cute way to use up leftover sock yarn that has a way of multiplying in my stash like rabbits. The pattern includes instructions for a mama bird, baby bird, large nest, mini nest, and eggs. It's for sale in my pattern shop on Ravelry and will soon be added to my etsy shop.
52 week challange - socks

I finished another pair and mailed them off to DD for her Thursday birthday. Yarn is Aussi Sock, US #1/2.25 mm needles. The pattern is A Step Above by Kathleen Power Johnson.

2 more for March
A sad pair of socks in a way. I knitted these as Chemo Socks. I wanted a neighbor to have comfy feet. She has a lot of scarves so socks seemed to be what I could do to help. I used Adrienne's 'Round Robyn House pattern. But, I did them toe up. I thought that Ida should be able to see the bird houses from her view of her feet. I used a yarn that is both machine washable and dryable. I thought that way it was less stress on anyone doing her laundry. I hope she gets to wear them out and I have to knit her new ones that are not sad socks.
Then I did a pair for me. Found a pattern I loved and grabbed a yarn I had never tried but loved the color. Yarn was purchased to be a shawl. But, I am loving these socks. Not seen in picture but I did an EOP toe to match the heel. I Love these socks.
Well off to see what else to cast on. So many patterns...................

Update March project, progress pics
March 52 week challenge - I made it!
I finished the socks I was knitting for my March project in the 52 week challenge!!

The lighter colored yarn is so hard to photograph - the colors just don't want to show up with the contrasting dark yarn. But, here's a pic of how much yarn I had leftover. I used 1 full skein of Maizy in Bittersweet, plus started into a second skein. And as you can see, I used almost one full skein of Maizy in Meadow Mist:

Pattern: harika - from Twist Collective
yarn: Maizy in Meadow Mist and Bittersweet
Needles: US 1 DPNs (and circulars to knit the cuff of each)
Cast on: 2/14/09
Finished: 3/28/09
ETA: estimated yardage: 410 yards
Only modification was to do more rapid decreases on the toes because the feet were too long following the pattern as written. But, other than that, I followed the pattern exactly and the socks fit great and are really comfy!!
Now, THAT was a challenging pattern. On to something a bit easier for April!! :-)

A set...
I started with the socks... in this beautiful cotton, named Katia Bombay (2007), for my partner in the Sock it to me 3 swap. Almost finished with the pair, I came short for the toe of the second sock, and needed to purchase an extra skein.
So... plenty of yarn left to make my partner something extra, and the idea of making a pair Fingerless Gloves was born. These were finished just half an hour ago... but then it was already dark outside. The photo is made under the lamp...
In total 400 yards were used for the entire set.

I finished another project in March, the Jojoland Swirl scarf.

Frogged and restarted...
One of the UFO's that did not get finished in the past UFO Kal was a scarf I intended to knit for myself. But a dear friend of mine was talking about lace... and she peeked my interest.
I was working on a scarf first with this yarn - Gedifra Kid Merino, but frogged it this morning. I have seen so many shawls in the past couple of weeks, but did not find the "right one". I peeked at a few, how they started, and started my own.
And - after now having 40 rows done, I can say I have nerves in my shawl... more pictures later of course.

Completed my Winter Frost Socks, using 344 yards of Elann "Sock It To Me" yarn in Color #44219, which is actually a lovely Teal color, although this photo looks more blue. I used 2.25 mm dpns and knit this pair unbeaded. (my original pattern design shows this beaded).
Would have been finished earlier but took a few days break to do some test knitting.
Now I am back to deciding what to knit next. Wow we are almost at the end of the first quarter of the year.
Completed Projects so far for March:
Bluebell Rib Socks - 328 yards
Garter Stitch Rib Socks - 346 yards
Winter Frost Sock - 344 yards
Total Yards so far for March = 1018
52 week
Hi all. Please pray for me. I woke up at midnight last night with kidney stones. It was soo bad I could not even knit. So, I am way under the gun for March. I still don't know how you all do it! Half way down the leg on a second Panda Soy sock. I never thought I could be in just as much pain as child-birth with no baby to show for it! And all the pretty socks you are all doing for the book rock! Thank goodness I bought two emergeny pizzas grocery shopping yesterday. I just did not know I would use them the next night!
Knit on!

UFO finale

Hi, just got my pictures taken and posted last minute. These are another pair of fetching mittens. The progress picture was on Jan 26th and just under 1/2 way done. I think that I put them under the 52-week category by mistake. Katie refused to be my model this time. They were a Christmas gift to my niece who wanted me to add fingers after I already started! I am just too new to do the math to figure out how to do that puppy! I told her I would make her a new pair where someone else already worked out the details! This is my second pair of mitts. I like them but they were too short for my fingers and i tenghtened them. I think I am ready to made the pair from CPY with Mini-mochi!!!!!!! Yeah, for me. Yep, they will be mine. Oh man, this is a not so good picture. Tell me if you want to see a new one, black is so hard to tell and you can not see the back hand.
Jody
One pair of mittens
I need to block them still, but wanted to show them. Mittens, for my partner for the Mitten Swap. Design is mine, and I hope they will suit my partner. Three colours are used, all from Sandnes Garn (scandinavia) Approximately 250 meter of yarn was used in total.

RRH socks finished
The socks took 86 gms of the 100 gm ball of Patonyle, so close to the 400 yds Adrienne calls for in the pattern. Fred calculated 354 yds. I wear a US size 6 shoe to give you an idea of the size of my sock. I also decreased the heel/sole by 4 sts and used a 2.00mm below the ankle and a 2.25mm above. (Adrienne helped me customize the fit and I'm thrilled that they fit "like a glove".) This little gem of a pattern really improved my sock knitting and I know I will enjoy knitting more RRH socks for gifts. Some day I hope to teach Georgia Peach to knit socks and this pattern will be the ultimate goal.
52 week update
I finished Katies first sock. She is in bed asleep with it on! I don't think I can get it off her! I have casted on and the ribbing is done, only 66 rows, 9 stitches per inch before I start the heel! I don't know if I can make the March deadline, but I am trying.
Jody
I will post my last ufo once my battery charges. I went to a wedding today.
tks.

handspun scarf edging completed
I found another 45 gms of Polwarth that I spun and dyed last year to add a crocheted edging. You can see how much yarn I had left in Georgia's hands (and why I call this 8 year old beauty "Peach"). The original scarf used 60 gms (300 yds) and the additional 45 gms for the edging added another 225 yds for this scarf = 525 yds for the entire project. I braided the tiny amount left from the last crochet stitch to make the tie.
UFO wrap-up
Well, I managed to finish 2 of my 4 UFO's during this KAL. Of course, the easy ones. I did make progress on my Tofutsies socks, but haven't finished the 2nd one yet because I am scrambling to finish the harika socks in March for the 52 week KAL! (I must go work on them as soon as I finish the blog post!!)
I already posted about the scarf I finished, but realized I never posted that I finished the crochet and knit cat toys that I posted my UFO pic of here. I'm not sure that this is even worthy of an entry, but I did assemble them and they are ready to give to my friends with cats the next time I see them:

This project fell in the "75% or more" category.
I finished these on 2/21/09.
Maybe I will finish the Tofutsies socks and Monkey socks by the end of 2008!
Love seeing all the other great projects that everyone is finishing! This really is a fun and inspiring group!

Sock Madness
Sock Madness. Yes it is. Adrienne talked me into competing in this craziness. So Thurs March 19 the pattern was released. I got knitting about 6 am PST.
The yarn is Sock that Rock in the colorway Jasper. This is yarn that I have had stored in my stash for many years. Below is a progress picture along with the pattern. Tropical Mer-tini.
Here is a completed picture.. I did finish the socks in time that I will be allowed to move on to Round 2.
I was worried about running out of yarn. I had maybe 3 -5 yards left over. These socks must be knitted as per pattern. They have to be a min. length cuff and for a size 7 or larger.
