Bunny Hop Cabled Cardigan

My March project was this Cabled Cardigan. It's a free CPY pattern that calls for Bunny Hop yarn, but this is the year I am "stashing down" so I made it in Elann's Sonata that I already had.
When I started it, I really wasn't sure I would have enough yarn, so I didn't make it quite as long as I would have liked and I made the sleeve quite a bit shorter. At first I didn't think I would even have enough for the front and neck edge so I just did a crocheted border, but I ripped it out and tried doing the ribbing. I had just enough. Seriously, there was only a tiny bit of yarn left.

are you sitting down?

Happy 150th Birthday, Italy

Here's my March edition of the KAL completed. It is the Cuff-to-Cuff Pullover by Jen Hagen. My son wanted a sweater in Italian flag colors because Italy celebrated it's 150th birthday this month, two days after he celebrated his 9th. I didn't finish it in time for either celebration, but we had agreed on that beforehand. I'm very pleased with the results and, even better, so is he! This is a very nice pattern, although I enlarged the size 10 slightly and it fits him like a glove.

Left Sleeve
Unfortunately we haven't had a sunny day in which to photograph it outside. Luckily the weather's still barely cool enough for him to wear it...not sure it'll fit next year! About the colors...I know they're not exactly right, but I work with what's available. Also he's wearing it backwards in this photo because the neckline seemed to be oriented the wrong way. Actually it works just fine either way and he's wearing it the other way around today.

Prime Time KAL March 2011

This is my project for March. I made it for my daughter because it just looked like a teenager project. It is the Caron Braided Cowl. I used a larger needle and made each strip longer since we tend to have larger heads than most.

Since I made strips from three different skeins I had to try my math abilities out to see how much yarn I used. Let me know if I have this right. I divided the yards by the ounces to see how many yards per ounce (52.5). Then I weighed each strip and added the ounces together to get 6 1/2 oz.
So 52.5 x 6.5= 341.25 yards.

My youngest daughter modeled it because the one I made it for is camera shy. I like the colors. I was so into my knitting that I forgot to take a picture of the purple strip. I knit with blinders on.

Prime Time Carefree Kal - March #2 Tracy Van Wormer

Simple Hats. I made 3 out of worsted, changing up the colors, and the patterned band around the hat. Based on the Simple Hat pattern down loaded from Ravelry by Gail Davidson. The first one was in Impeccable -- neopolitan. The second I used Vanna's Choice in Oatmeal, and the third was Vanna's choice in a green that I had left over. Each hat ended up weighing appro 2 oz -- or 120 - 130 yds each-- total 380 yds. More info is on Ravelry:

March Primetime KAL Post

WIP Pic Back View Finished Pic I have been knitting crazy this month. I have finished a felted bag (over 600 yrds) a pair of socks (400 yrds), these sweaters(600+ yrds) and am just starting the arms on a cardigan for me(600+yrds so far). These little "t-Shirts" are the Sorello pattern by Georgie Hallam (Tikki). I used Berroco Comfort DK which is great for kids(machine washable) and shows the definition of the cables and I can actually get it at my LYS! I made the 3 year old size for my daughter and had enough left over to make a 6 month size for my neice. I forgot to take a wip pic of the little one, but the bigger one was over 400 yrds alone, so it meets the yarn requirements anyway. Jill (jaerrt)

Prime Time KAL - 3/11 Finished

I finished with a few days to spare.... I originally made this for my grandson, Bobby (5) and I was going to make it in the reverse colors for my grandson, Ryan (almost 4). The neck is a little snug tho' so this may be going to Ryan instead...now to finish the next one. I used the Hamish pattern from the Rowan Juniors book, Comfort DK by Berroco and size 3 and 5 needles. I think it turned out neat looking! Can't you just see this with some khaki pants or jeans and a plaid shirt.

March primetime

Hi, I have a pile of things for March. Next month I am going to be able to handle fingering yarns. I have two prayer squares, one dishcloth, a Tuesday Evening cowl (nutmeg tones,) and a Reckless cowl (purple.)
I used Encore for the navy square, and Lion Brand for the Earth and sky for the brown and blue square. The dishcloth is Peaches and Creme. The Tuesday Evening cowl is Panda Silk DK doubled. My favorite is totally the Tuesday cowl. I used the whole skeins making it taller. And, finally the reckless cowl. It was TOTALLY RECKLESS. The numbers were off on the pattern and the swirls do not line up. It was also super small because it barely goes over my head. It fits my DD well so she may snake it. I was super disappointed. I may just rip it out and make something else. I am going to try to block it again and see if I can live with it. The yardage was way off also. Nathan just lost both front teeth and had to be in the picture!
I am so glad to be onto different projects! I am going to do the Coquille cowl on the CPY group on Ravelry and the 50 socks New Wheat sock on the 50 socks 50 states group.

I can't wait to do the shawl on the CPY group on Ravelry. It has been a long time with no fingering yarn on my needles.

Prime Time March

I finished the big ass sock for Chris, this is the first time he has asked for a pair and they are now finished. I used cascade 22o superwash size 3 needle. They will fit a size 12 foot and a have a leg 9" long they are what he wanted now I just have to hope they fit.

Now for the bad news I frogged the veil I have been working on I just didn't like how it was turning out. I have restarted, using the pattern from Bad Cat Designs Snow Queen Shawl. I even did a swatch, I added the beads into it so the Bride could pick out what she wanted. There is green, white and olive green. She picked out white and then I thought to use clear so I will have to see which she wants now. Here is the start. I've frogged twice DON'T DROP the nupps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is where my problem began.
So I'm off the knit. Happily knitting, Bye.

Dog Sweater and Ball

For March, I knitted a doggy sweater out of Plymouth Encore in gray that I've had for years.  I used a pattern from Knitter's Magazine.

Duffy's sweater in progress

Duffy modeling his sweater

After finishing the sweater and calculating the yardage used (280 yds.), I decided to crochet a small ball for him to play with to make up the yardage needed.

The finished ball, 36 yards, bringing my March total to 316 yards.

The ball is a success!

Prime Time KAL - 3/11 WIP

Making a vest for my Grandson. I used a Rowan Junior pattern and Comfort DK yarn. I wanted to have something my daughter could throw in the washer.

March Prime time:

Meet Pompom. He visited our home on Monday, as he had a problem. So many children were playing with him, and talking to him, that his nose almost fell into pieces.

Now that sure is sad, and the teacher asked me if I was able to repair his nose. I am not a puppet doctor though, but I tried. Oh my, his nose sure was in a miserable condition. I had to make him a new one! That same morning, he went back to school, as a class full with children were eagerly waiting for him.

The socks - quite something, but they are finally done. Baroque, done in purple Malabrigo. Enormous, the twisting involved in this pair. 330 yards were used for this pair
