It's all About Me again

In late February, I blogged about a shawl knit from the Panda Silk DK, thatI received as a 12/12/12 prize. I was turning it into a shawlette. There was not enough yarn to complete the pattern as written, so I left off one lace repeat and edged it with garter stitch. That worked very well.

Started Feb. 22 and finished Feb. 27
Knit on US#7 needles
Pattern: free from CPY Panda Silk DK Shawlette with Lace Pattern
Yardage: 240 yards
Closed with a china rose pin from my ancient history. That keeps it on my shoulders at work.

And again for me, a pair of mitts that I'm calling Odd Fellows. I had said that there was no repeat in the yarn colors. I was wrong! There is no usable repeat in this ball of Mini Mochi.

More for Me

Last week, I received a ball of Mini Mochi in the mail. I love the feel of the yarn, but it is splitting on #2 needles used in my current project. I've designed a pair of fingerless mitts. I'm not writing up this pattern, because I think I can do better.

This will be a pair of mis-matched mitts. the ball of yarn has no repeat colors.

I finished the shawlette from the Panda Silk DK yarn. The two projects together will have enough yardage for a prize.

ME KAL

The socks after a design of Cindy Craig are finished too. I modified heel and toe as I didn´t manage to follow Cindy´s directions without creating holes along the heel (it´s my fault, I saw other better examples) and the toe had to be round for me. They are cozy and I love them.
What a fine idea to make us knit something for ourselves.

Knitting for me again

I have knit up my 12/12/12boy prize. I used the CPY pattern called Panda Silk DK Shawlette with Lace Pattern. Again I ran out of yarn. I finished one pattern repeat short and used garter stitch for the edge. It is not blocked yet. 240 yards is not quite enough to qualify for a prize, so we'll see if I finish anything else for myself.

More for Me!

I posted earlier about these mittens. (Details on February 1) They took 196 yards of worsted weight wool and are my own design. Of course, they match my coat. I wore it to the yarn store.

By them selves, they are not enough yardage. Then I remembered the KAL on Ravelry. We did/are doing a two color brioche scarf from Knitty called Rodekool. Yarn called for is CPY Mini Mochi.

I ran short on yarn, frogged back, still was a little short, was able to get yarn from someone else, and I finished about January 30 for the final time. 195 yards of yarn.

Originally, I had bought another yarn, because I don't have local access to Mini Mochi. Decision was made to knit the scarf in that yarn also. I'm not sure who will wear the scarf, it may become a gift. One yarn is Jojoland Melody superwash. The other is Aussi Sock. The pattern is tricky, so I decided to knit it again while I remembered the tricks.

Thanks so much for my 12mo BOY prize. I found a Shawlette pattern that I will use it for. The yarn is Panda Silk DK, which is what the pattern calls for. I found it on Ravelry. Love that site!!!

Me, me, me KAL
I made the mittens I needed, and blogged about them a week or so ago. Now, the bathroom bathmat/rug is finished. It is crocheted, using two strands of dishcloth cotton. One end is narrower, because I ran out of one of the cones of cotton, and the new cone was a little thinner. I don't notice it when in use.

The rug measured about 24 x 36 before its bath. It's smaller now, but may get bigger in use. I used about 1226 yards of cotton. It weighs 1# 10 oz. It will olast much longer than anything I could buy. The store rugs keep losing their binding on the edges and cost more than the yarn I used. The only thing left on the bathroom remodel is to paint the radiator, which will wait until summer.

ME KAL

There is another mediocre pic for you. A sock design of Cindy Craig from the book Outside the Sox. I rarely knit socks from other designers and I rarely do more than one sock of the same design but I found this one to be simple and well structured. Absolutely right for the ME KAL. Watch out, there will be a pair of them soon.

BTW, would the rules allow for making a "pair" by using two different designs but from the same ball of yarn? I do this all the time as I think there isn´t time enough for all ideas and so far nobody ever noticed that I wear two different socks.

Just for Me

It's all about me and I don't have enough yardage yet. I do have warm hands, however. I had worn out the mittens that went with my winter jacket, and bought yarn last spring. Finally, I made time for me. They're finished and I used up about 196 yards of yarn. Worsted weight yarn knits up much faster than sock yarn.

I'll give details here, while I remember.
Pattern: my own, with elements from a number of places
Yarn: Aussi Wool in amethyst and rose bay, with the fuzzy part a combination of Bernat Sox in pink hot and Bernat Boa in doo doo bird.
Needles: US #4/3.5 mm for the cuffs and US#5/3.75 mm for the hands.

Knitting time about i week (Jan. 20 -28, 2011)

I'm working on a cotton crochet bath mat, which will certainly add enough yardage to count for this challenge.

debi thought that we needed a selfish KAL for US, since we've all spent so much time in the last few months knitting for others.! so carefree kal is having an "it's all about ME!" kal. knit something that you've been wanting to make for yourself between january 13 and february 28, 2011 march 15, 2011 and you will be entered into a prize drawing. prizes will be donated by the ever generous susan of crystal palace yarns.

project must use a minimum of 300 yards knitted or 500 yards crocheted. you will get one entry for each project completed. limit of one prize per person. you know we like to spread the happiness around! no double dipping with the prime time kal.

there will be a special prize drawing from projects knit/crochet with crystal palace yarns products (must be at least 90% cpy).

you must post progress photo and photo of completed project by midnight, march 19, 2011.
