Prime Time - June

I opted to try a thinner yarn for Rachel Wilson's Magic Mystery Dog pattern. The CPY Maizy is stretchy enough to make me happy with the fit.

The all knits and purls pattern was definitely "carefree" knitting!

Only about 16 grams left from the 2 balls, so these required a bit more than 320 yards.

Thank you and new project

Thank you, Susan!!!
Here's a pic of my pretty Panda Soy prize yarn:

Trying to find the perfect project to use this for a baby girl due in October in our family!!

I am currently working on my first sock design project for the SKA group challenge for June. These will be my Prime Time project for whatever month I end up finishing them! ;-)

I am designing a pair of fair isle socks using Panda Soy in Velvet Blue and Natural Ecru:
I am using Alice Starmore's wonderful fair isle book to help me put together the patterns in the chart. Getting the chart worked out was a challenge, but I love knitting fair isle!! I am working on the leg now, so I should have one finished sock soon.

June Projects

Lots of things to post today. First, I finally finished the Dragon Melody Shawl. This may become my all time favorite. It was easy to knit, although the edging took longer than the entire rest of the shawl. I didn't think I would ever finish it, but when I did it was well worth the effort. It took about 1485 yards of Jojoland Melody Superwash in Blue Dream, a variegated purple to teal. I can't remember whether I posted the progress photo which was taken before starting the edging, so I am posting that along with the finished photo. Please note that the colors in the progress photo are more accurate than the completed photo, where they look very washed out.

I have also started 2 pairs of socks. The first is a pair of Double Tadpole. I loved the Tadpole Socks so much that I am using the pattern again but knitting the pattern on both the front and back of the leg. I am using Schoeller+Stahl Fortissima Mexiko Cotton Stretch in variegated pink.

I also started a pair of plain socks, stockinette with a ribbed cuff, in Schachenmayr nomotta Regia Cotton Top & Top Color.
These will look like fair isle, which I love. I can't wait to see how the pattern develops as I knit them.

Prime Time Again

Here is my Prime Time project for May, socks again. I designed these socks and am working on the pattern.

Cast on June 4 and bound off June 14, 2011
Yarn: Knit Picks Essential in Pumpkin
Needles: 2.5mm

Progress picture that I thought I posted earlier. This is sock #2. It seems that I didn't get an in progress photo of sock #1, and you don't like a photo of one sock finished.

Prime Time KAL - 6/11 WIP

This month I am making Magic Mystery Dog socks by Rachel Wilson from the 50 Socks/50 States CD. I am using Mountain Colors 4/8's wool in the Sagebrush colorway because I had it in my stash! May not have enough yardage... so it should be interesting. I am also making my grandaughter a scarf with large needles in pink eyelash yarn since the Mt. colors yardage will be short...

additional pics of mini mochi rainbow hitchhiker

I would have added these pics of the gorgeous shawl pin made by bellsisterding's daughter, Karen, but it just arrived today. This was a gift from Ding (Debbie here on our KAL) in memory of Razzle and the workmanship is as lovely as the sentiment behind it. "Razzle's love forever" is inscribed with hearts and it even has a flower like the hollyhocks now sprouting from the seeds we sprinkled on his grave. Contact Debbie on Ravelry (Bellsisterding) if you are interested in getting one of these heirloom quality shawl pins for your special knitting. :) I think the rainbow mini mochi and this pin are perfect together.

Blue Diamond Shawl

Blue Diamond Shawl
specifics: in CPY Panda Wool -- baby blue -- 2 full skeins(340 yds) -- maybe 2 yards left...
knit on size 5
Based on the pattern Arcadian -- free on Ravelry -- with the following changes
1. simple picot edging added -- over 6 stitches
2. neck edge done in a double seed stitch
Project can be found on Ravelry -- Blue Diamond Shawl

This, of course, came out much smaller than the original pattern -- since the original is done in worsted. HOWEVER, what it lacks in size, it totally makes up for in softness. I was really pleased with the yarn....amazingly soft, yet still retaining definition on the diamond lace pattern. I "sized up " the needles for better drape....and was pleased.
Finished pattern Folded up

detail and of course....wip!
I recommend both pattern and yarn!

June Primetime KAL another hitchhiker

I took out the blocking pins yesterday and hoped to get a pic of Lisa wearing it, but she's away for the day. I'll post one when I can. The purple yarn was dyed in the crock pot with Wilton's violet frosting dye. The odds and ends of the mini mochi are little treasures to be saved and used for accents when I can. I think it makes all the difference in this project. :) 42 teeth which I think is a great size.

Primetime KAL

Here is a better photo of my ʻĀnuenue Hitchhiker. I started it June 1st after seeing
Peacockmom's fabulous Hitchhiker. I decided I simply must have one for myself.

I'm up to about 11 teeth now, and it's really going pretty well. There was a weird bit of purple fuzz in the middle of another color, but I just left it and am considering it a design element. I could've done a spit splice to avoid it, but didn't want to bother.

Here is my final project. It is my favorite on the CPY site with Chunky Mochi. I did no mods and have just the tiniest bit left. The pictures are a little off color but the weather here is ucky and I am getting used to this camera. It is feldspar Chunky Mochi. You can barely see Nathan trying to sneak in the picture! I started it on 5-25 and finished it on the 28th. I can not wait to try the Mochi Plus next!

May Prime Time - Post #3!

Happy June everyone! I finished up a few projects this month and thought I'd share. Earlier I posted my 2nd Rodekool scarf, made for my oldest sister. It turned out great. Then I made Sunday Swing socks for my mother for Mother's Day, a small purse for my daughter for Prom, an Animal Crackers Hat for Maggie as well and a pair of flip flop socks - Flippants for my sister Mary.

Now for some details! The Rodekool scarf was knit with 230 yards of Mini Mochi in Brandied Apricots and Caramel Latte. I used Dream In Color Smooshy Good Luck Jade for the Sunday Swing Socks (351 yards). For the Silk Purse, I tried some Laines Du Nord Mulberry Silk and mixed it with Ironstone Paris Nights - about 100 yards. The Animal Crackers Hat was made from all leftover skeins of Brown Sheep Lambs Pride and Cascade - about 179 yards total! Finally, Flippants was made with leftover Panda Superwash in Evening Blues and only needed 84 yards. Total yards knitted in May was 944.

May was a very productive month - glad I got my knitting mojo back! I can't wait to show you guys the shawl I'm working on with Panda Silk in Strawberry Fields. I had several balls of it in my stash to make pink ribbon socks but decided that it would make a lovely Maiden Shawl by Marla Mutch.

KWP KAL

So here are my finished pics of my "waterfall" gloves. These are awesome, I love them. The second glove went way quicker than the first, mainly because I figured out a great way to remember the pattern repeats - separate the stitches on the needle grouped by the number of pattern repeat stitches. Sometimes it's good to do something twice! I actually finished these May 21 but just haven't had time to upload the pics. I really love working with the mini mochi.

Prime Time KAL surprise!
