If I'm competing in Ravelympics, can the project I do for that one also count here? I'm planning on doing a lace shawl for that. I am toying with doing beads with it as well... so I know I only will be able to do one project. Thanks let me know.

You KNOW I want to play, of course! :)

I will be doing another In the Land of Oz (shawlette size) and can hardly wait to get started "figure skating". I will also try to knit a second project using crystal palace yarns. Waiting for some to arrive. How fun!

yes, you can use your ravelympic project for our olympic kal.

I'm in for Alpine Skiing! I am going to make Muir Woods from the 50 Socks book. Now I need to decide what yarn....

Count me in! For figure skating, of course, I do love lace. And since it is on it's way, I'll be using my CPY yarn from the Holiday Kal, whatever it is, can't wait to see!
(So does that make me in two categories? Olympic spirit, too?

adrienne said...

nolaboard-sure! the events are just for fun. you can put your project in any events you want...but it will only count as one for prize drawing purposes.

I want to participate!! Not sure what I'll make yet. I'm brainstorming a few different possibilities. Although my challenge will be finishing something in 17 days! Waaah!!!

I'm definitely in for figure skating. I just have to pick which shawl to knit... at least I'm down to three options... LOLOL!

I think about bobsled, ice dancing or nordic combined. Best thing to choose may be a huge bobsled. My face is still quite nice, I hope, my body would be covered and I could be knitting on my slide downhill. Ice dancing, well, put me on ice and call it dancing, because I would not be able to stand. Nordic combined, hmmm, holding your straights straight when flying, then knitting on the go, might work as well. Anyone to help with the decision? Should I do beading and make Adrienne smile? Maybe.

Well, when I signed up for the Free Style event, I forgot to pick my Country. I pick Canada, Host to this years Olympics and my home Country.

Now back to the design board.

I'd like to play - not sure in what event yet, though.

Does picking a country mean anything for categories other than knitting in that country's colours?

adrienne said...

picking a country is for fun and for knitting in colors, if you are so inclined.

ikkinlala said...

Can I still pick my own country (Canada) even if Brenda already has?

debi's place said...

Yes, you can pick Canada also.

nolaboard said...

I'll pick Haiti, because they need people rooting for them!!

I'm going to go with Iceland... I've always wanted to go there... Go Iceland!!!!

I am voting for the USA in the olympic spirit category. Yeah.

Julie said...

This time around I will pick the United Kingdom.

maz said...

Ms Fong helped me choose Germany. And Ice Dancing. Imagine.

Count me in. I've decided to take a spin on the ice in figure skating and I choose Japan as my country. I'm going to attempt to spin my way through the Traveling Women Shawl. Now it come close to completion and I haven't gotten it done can I get Debi to finish it for me and will it count.

adrienne said...

I'd like Jamaica and bobsledding! Thanks - not sure yet what I'll be making.

I'll compete for USA in sock hockey. I'm doing an intarsia sock for the Ravelry SKA challenge.

jdhforjc said...

Okay, so I have whitr and red yran CPY. And Canada is who I am gonna pick because it is what I have. So, I guess it is team spirit. If I have time maybe one more?

Since I live in Oz and love it I'm choosing Australia especially since it hasn't been chosen yet. It has taken me a while to send in my choice since as an ex-pat American I've got my heart in 2 countries. I'd choose the 2 if I could and always love to root for the Jamaican bobsled team, too.

Is it too late? I decided to use up a couple skeins of jiffy I have sitting around. Can I sign up for Ireland?

YoYo SockSister said...

If I'm not too late I'll pick Ski Jump for Switzerland (if available - went there years ago and loved it!) I'll give it a try.... yoyosocksister

Radka said...

I'm picking Austria, just because I lived there a short time. I'm planning on crochet. It will be mostly double crochet, so I guess that would make it speed skating.

Cathy said...

I am declaring Team USA and I finally decided on a project. I am going to knit a Cabled Sampler Scarf in red, white and blue with the yarn leftover from my fair isle vest. Woo-hoo!

I guess this puts me in the Alpine Skiing category!! :-)

Hopefully the yardage of leftover yarn will be enough to knit this scarf as I am envisioning it!

I forgot to pick my events. I will participate in the figure skating and ice dancing as I am doing a Juno Regina with beads.

Thanks!

Well of course I want to play! I've even cleaned up my room so that I can have lots of space for all my Olympic toys!!! LOL!!

jardinrouge said...

Forgot to declare a country and an event. I'm picking Norway because of my Norwegian heritage, and I'm doing something that might be considered a bit dangerous...Nordic Combined while Ice Dancing, Freestyle!

adrienne said...

jardinrouge- a true olympian! what a combo! can't wait to see what you come up with!!!
