Yes I knit more socks!

A finished pair of socks for my husband.

The yarn and pattern were part of The Ram Club from The Unique Sheep. The yarn has 4 gradations of color. DH has size 12 feet and there was not enough yarn. The pattern has a number of problems, starting with the transition from ribbing to pattern.

Started on May 1, 2010, I finished them June 10. I am not loving the yarn or the designer.

Baby sweater
I had sweaters for 2 little girls put away. This spring, 2 neighbors and a friend are having/have had girls. I need to give this before July 1, when the Mom leaves town. The pattern is Elizabeth Zimmermann's Tomten Jacket. I'm using cone yarn and a few odd balls. Size 6/4.0 mm needles.

I got a thrill out of grafting the hood in garter stitch. The intructions and diagram were in Knitting Workshop.

2 Finished Shawls, 2 New Projects

I have 2 finished shawls and 2 new projects to post.

The finished shawls are Icarus and Calais. Icarus took 1212.5 yards of Lorna’s Laces Helen’s Lace Multi in Devon on US 3 needles . It is a little too busy for the design, but I love the colors and the design of this shawl. Calais took 444 yards of Louet Gems Fingering Weight in Neptune on US 5 needles. This was a very quick knit.

The projects in process are Haruni, which I am making with JaggerSpun Maine Line 2/8 in Apricot on US 5 needles, and a pair of basic ribbed socks in Austermann Step using US 2 needles. (It is difficult to take good photos because the colors are very dark.)

progress pics I forgot to post for June

June 12/12/12 projects

This is my 3rd Land of Oz shawl and has been gifted to my friend who chose the color. The yarn is Cascade Heritage paints and it used almost the entire skein with enough left
for the stripe in Andrew's alpaca hat I made for his bald head due to chemo. I'm happy to say he wears it all the time. The camera washed out the colors and I hesitated to include 3 pics, but it is a wonderful pattern and I encourage you to knit it. Jacques Cousteau Hat available free on ravelry.

I also made 2 pairs of Aran bed socks. The first was going to be a gift and I somehow measured 1/2" short for my friend so I kept that pair for moi and made another pair for her. For a person with raging SSS, it took a lot of discipline to knit 4 matching socks in a row! It was fast pattern and I will make another pair for her in cotton for Christmas when it is hot here.

I made the Japanese Feather Stitch cowl for her birthday out of 5 ply alpaca using a free pattern designed by Gale Ulvang on ravelry which Cheryl kept on almost all weekend during her visit.

And that would be my number one goal of this ufo season. Hopefully there will be more to come. Now, how to keep up with both leaves me CLUELESS!!! Maybe it'll rain tomorrow, and I'll get up early, and I'll be really productive and MAYBE I'll have time to knit tomorrow afternoon. Am I delusional or WHAT?!?

Dog Days UFO

Cotton sweater

I started this project in June 2009. The body is 3-color seed stitch. I learned this technique in a Lily Chin class. The jacket is based on a Vogue sewing pattern and will eventually have lace on all edges.

Here's a close up of the fabric. I am using dishcloth cotton in variegated color I've had for years and years, off white, and sage green.
