It's all about ME ME ME

Just finished weaving in all my ends, I think I've squeaked this in under the wire.

This project is a "feel good" one because I stashbusted - yaay me! I bought this yarn - Phildar Aviso - in oh, about maybe 7 or 8 years ago, for a project (I think it was a Rowan cropped sweater) that I quickly frogged. Loved the colours and just couldn't bear to get rid of it. Found a pattern in a Phildar pattern book (from 2004) for a striped sweater (I have a weakness for stripes) and decided that was just the thing. BUT the yarn languished. Well I reorganized my stash this winter and decided it was time - now or never, knit it or get rid of it.

Since I had just finished a top with multiple pieces (accck seaming) I decided to rewrite the pattern to be in the round to the armholes, then split for front and back. I also decided to do the seams in the round. Aviso is fairly thick aran weight yarn, so I'm glad I eliminated the seams. I think it worked out fairly well. Phildar patterns are funny, I don't think they translate well from french to english, I found a few errors in the decreases. When sewing it together I found the sleeve cap to be longer than it should and had to ease it in to place, but I think it looks ok.

I used a total of 1,036 yds. All in all I think it will make a great spring sweater, and I'm looking forward to matching it up with a nice pair of white slacks or jeans. And yes, it does need to be blocked.
