December FO Posted

I finally finished my December project, without too much time to spare. It is another pair of socks, made with 1 skein (450 yards) of ONline Supersocke 100 Emotion III-Color yarn. I wasn't sure I would get these finished when I lost my knitting mojo after open heart surgery in November, but I was determined to get them done. Happy New Year to everyone!

New Socks on the Needles

I started a new pair of socks. I am using a self-patterning yarn this time,ONline Supersocke 100 Emotion III-Color which I found in Portsmouth, NH when we visited our daughter in September. Tomorrow we are off to Dallas where I'll have heart surgery. I hope to finish these during my recovery so I can post them in December.

Another Pair of Socks

I started a jacket for my daughter. I am using Cascade Ecological Wool and the pattern is Josephine. Here is a photo of the back.

I have another pair of socks to post for November. The yarn is Schachenmayr nomotta Regia Design Line Kaffe Fassett and I used almost all of 2 skeins (approx. 430 yards total).

Flower Baby Blanket Finished

I just finished the Flower Baby Blanket. I used about 1225 yards of Wendy Velvet Touch doubled in a variegated pink and 136 yards of the same yarn in yellow for the center. The blanket is really yummy and cuddly. I know the mom and dad, who have 2 sons now, are going to love using this blanket for their new daughter.

Socks

Today I finished the Staggered Rib Socks that I've been working on. I love them! I used 300 yards of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport Multi in Green alley on US 3 needles. The colors are very soft and yummy. I can't wait to wear them.

I also started a new pair of socks using Schachenmayr nomotta Regia Design Line Kaffe Fassett in striping pink/red/blue/green. I can't wait to see how these work up. I am just making a 2x2 ribbed leg and stockinette foot so that the yarn shows off.

Completed Socks

I just realized that I never posted the photo of the completed Escalator Socks. I used 1 skein (420 yards) of Cherry Tree Hill Supersock Select Semi Solids in Wisteria. Here's the photo of the finished socks.

September Finished Projects

I've been knitting this month but finally found the time to post.
I finished the Anthemion Wrap that I've been working on for a while. I used 1159.2 yards of Jaggerspun Zepyr in Elderberry, and I love the way that it turned out.

I also finished the Skyp Rib Socks that I made for a friend's birthday. I used about 236.8 yards of Colinette Jitterbug in Magenta. I am posting the progress photo of the leg in addition to the final finished socks since I didn't have a chance to post the progress photo earlier.

New Socks Started

I've started 2 new pair of socks. The first is Escalator Socks which I am knitting in Cherry Tree Hill Supersock Select Semi Solids in Wisteria. The second pair is Staggered Rib Socks for which I am using Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport Multi in Green Valley, a yummy soft variegated green/yellow/blue. I'm also continuing to work on the Anthemium Wrap and will try to upload a new progress photo soon.

Finished Project for August

I finally had a chance to block the Chalice Baby Blanket. It only took 3 skeins (600 yards) of Plymouth Encore Colorspun. Although all 3 skeins had the same color and dye lot numbers, the first skein I used was quite different. I didn't realize it until I was well into the second skein and I didn't want to rip it all back. I think the lys where I bought the yarn had put the wrong band on the skein, but it was too late to do anything about it. I am sure the baby who receives this (granddaughter of friends) will love it anyway.

Finished Socks

This may be my new favorite sock pattern. It is Skyp Socks knit in Regia Galax. They took almost the entire 2 balls of yarn, about 450 yards.

I am posting photos of the completed socks and the detail.

New July Starts

I've started 2 new projects. The first is a shawl, Anthemion, which I am knitting with Jaggerspun Zephyr in Elderberry. The second is another baby afghan in the Chalice pattern. This is the second time I have knit this pattern, and I really love it. It is easy and relaxing, but interesting. I am using Plymouth Encore Colorspun in a yummy white/yellow/blue variegated. I'm still finishing a pair of socks also, so it's a busy summer!

Crocheted Afghan

I just completed a crocheted afghan that I made for a wedding gift. I used Plymouth Encore worsted yarn. The white background took 2200 yards, plus approx. 600 yards for the flowers (I used leftover bits and pieces of various colors) and 800 yards for the leaves. I made all of the flowers first, then added the leaves, and finally did the background. The blocks were attached with flat braid square joining so they were joined as they were done - no sewing to do at the end, and all of the ends were finished and clipped as the squares were finished and joined. That made the finishing very easy. Here are the progress photos of the flowers and leaves and the completed afghan.

July Projects

So far July has been a busy month. I finished a pair of socks, started another pair, and started a cowl.

The finished socks are basic ribbed socks knit with Austermann Step. I only used 312.8 yards. I love the way they turned out, but the dark colors made the knitting difficult. The cowl is the Birthday Cowl which I am making in Malabrigo Worsted. I am making it very long so it can be pulled up like a hood. The in-progress socks are Skyp Socks using Regia Galaxy. I love this pattern - it was easy to memorize and I love the way it looks in this yarn.

Back to knitting...

Another Finished Project

This time I am posting the progress and finished photos together since this knitted up so quickly. It is the Saroyan pattern. I used 354.3 yards of Cascade Yarns Dolce in medium blue on size US 9 needles, and the finished size is 81" x 10". It only took 2 days to knit - it really flew off the needles! The color is most accurate in the progress photo.

Another Shawl Completed

Here is my Haruni, finished and (finally) blocked. I love, love, love this pattern, although it is a major pain to block. I used 694.4 yards of JaggerSpun Maine Line 2/8 in apricot using US 5 needles. The finished size is 59" x 29". I can't wait to wear it! (I have uploaded photos of the shawl blocking as well as the completed shawl so you can see the shape.) I am very happy with this and can't wait to wear it.

Progress Photos of Finished Projects

I am so sorry! Apparently I never posted these progress photos of projects I have finished. I hope its not too late! Here they are:

2 Finished Shawls, 2 New Projects

I have 2 finished shawls and 2 new projects to post.

The finished shawls are Icarus and Calais. Icarus took 1212.5 yards of Lorna’s Laces Helen’s Lace Multi in Devon on US 3 needles . It is a little too busy for the design, but I love the colors and the design of this shawl. Calais took 444 yards of Louet Gems Fingering Weight in Neptune on US 5 needles. This was a very quick knit.

The projects in process are Haruni, which I am making with JaggerSpun Maine Line 2/8 in Apricot on US 5 needles, and a pair of basic ribbed socks in Austermann Step using US 2 needles. (It is difficult to take good photos because the colors are very dark.)

May Socks

Here are my "hospital socks". I thought I would finish these faster, but at least they are finished! I am delighted at how well the stripes match up in the 2 socks. There's a first time for everything!! The yarn is ONline Supersock 100 and I used approximately 350 yards.

2 Finished Shawls

I have finally gotten my knitting (and blocking!) mojo back. Here are 2 shawls that I finished earlier this month but just blocked. Above is Multnomah (which I had to make since my son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter live in Multnomah County in Portland, OR). I used approximately 600 yards of Rowan Tapestry with US8 needles.
This is the Eliina Shawl. I used a total of 798 yards of JaggerSpun Maine Line yarn in 4 colors on US 7 needles.

April Update

I have one finished pair of socks plus another started pair to post this week. The finished pair are Tea and Scandal Socks, which I knit with the Crystal Palace Panda Silk yarn in a very pretty silver blue that I won (thanks, Adrienne & Laura!!). I used a little over 300 yards of the yarn.

At the beginning of the month I cast on another pair of socks that I am calling my hospital socks since right after casting on I would up in the hospital for a week with multiple pulmonary emboli. I worked on them while in the hospital and now take them with me every week when I go back to the doctor. At this rate I am sure that it won't take me long to finish them!!
