Hi, I just finished my first real "sock yarn" sock with my winnings (Olympic challenge.) It has taken me tons of time to do this project. Owen should fit into them with plenty of wiggle room! Last sock to finish soon. I am so excited. It is a little splitty but I think I really now "get" sock construction and the techniques. I think it is time for a mini-mochi pair for me! Whee. Does anyone have ideas on which pattern to use for a fairly new beginner?

P.S. I think I will have enough to do a n adult pair from this yarn too. Ant hints on patterns for the Panda Soy cocoa mint color?

congratulations on finishing your first "real" sock. it is really exciting, isn't it? now you know you are really in trouble. sock addiction is one of the worst ones.
welcome to the club!
You did great on this first sock, congratulations. There are some nice patterns at the Crystal Palace yarn site, www.straw.com - check out the Maizy patterns.
Welcome to the world of totally addicted sock knitters.

Welcome to the delightful world of sock addiction! You'll find you have a lot of wonderful company as well as symptoms to feed your habit. There are loads of patterns, books, yarns, blogs, etc dedicated to socks.
My advice as a new sock knitter myself is to look at some of Adrienne Fong's patterns. Her tips are how I learned to pick up gusset stitches and also how to do a K3 tog without hurting my hands. She and Anne Hanson have clearly written patterns without errors and you'll be happy with the techniques and results. Congrats on your first finished pair!!! Cheers from roo land-
