Dog Days UFO

Cotton sweater

I started this project in June 2009. The body is 3-color seed stitch. I learned this technique in a Lily Chin class. The jacket is based on a Vogue sewing pattern and will eventually have lace on all edges.

Here's a close up of the fabric. I am using dishcloth cotton in variegated color I've had for years and years, off white, and sage green.

Another progress

Last year was about getting some cardigans. This year will be about sweaters and vests.
Here is the first one and posted before ready.
It is an easy and quick knit with drumsticks of 5,5mm. I cast on in the first days of this year with snow all around and hope to finish it within some more days.
Could be quicker, but I am a real XXL, 6ft tall, so there are some stitches to do. Snow is melting now.

52 Week Challenge- my knitting last month

This is a project for September that I wanted to finish by summer and now it is finished, but summer is gone. A long and loose fitting sweater out of cotton in a rich shade of red, not pink as the picture shows.

There is no decrease in stitch count, only taking the pattern itself to shape the garment. As in ganseys I put my initials on it. Now I can´t get lost :-).

Here is a new scarf for the upcoming stormy weather. It is a big one, 50cm x 2m, not yet actually, only half way through it, made of two cakes of yarn with long colour runs.

The new project for October is a long jacket. First, as always, I did a sleeve and now am knitting the collar and band. Yarn is of camel and alpaca and merino.

Then there are socks. I needed a new pair for me and used my Bergtrikot design.

52 Week Challenge - August - finished project

See my project for August. You definitely might get an impression of my A-line shaped body :-). This will be a very cozy, soft and warm sweater used as a shield against the stormy weather we will have within some weeks from now.

Fall is my favourite season of the year: Wonderful and unique sunlight, soft and golden, the earth under your feet not yet too cold, fresh winds and all the beautiful colours that go with autumn leaves and fruit and nuts and late blossoms. As a welcome side effect I can breathe and forget allergies for a while. How I love this time of the year!

Material for the sweater is merino extrafine in darkest green, yardage for certain along the rules.

I finally have a few things I can show off

I'm making a knit version of a Marcy Tilton Vogue jacket, The original is sewn. The story is on my blog if anyone cares. I will sew it again in wool. The first one was in linen. This version is dishcloth cotton in a 3 color seed stitch. Two of the colors have been in my stash for almost 20 years.

I've been knitting on a pair of socks for my daughter. I actually have the first sock finished. The yarn is Patons Kroy Socks 4 ply in blazing blue. Needles 2.5 mm.

I keep working on the crocheted dishcloths. Three are finished, in a variegated yarn with blue trim. The fourth will be blue with the variegated trim. It looks like it's time to take more photos.

I'm also doing the Mystery Sock KAL. I misread the pattern to start with and am redoing the ribbing. The longer one is correct. The yarn for this is CPY Panda Wool that I won in last year's Tour de Sox. Color is Ultramarine.

52 Week Challenge August - beginnings

Another month has started and so have I, LOL

Here is something that will make sense to wear within weeks from now. Summer will fade away and I will be happy to enjoy autumn as every year as my most-beloved time of the year.

Dark dark green, merino extrafine, and as usual something with cables or leaves or diagonals, here it is cables and diagonals as a pattern from a German book that now makes it into my sweater.

52 week KAL May maz

Here is my Fishermen´s summer sweater finished pic. Don´t know the yardage, because I twisted 8 threads of a pure bamboo weaving yarn into a knitting yarn without knowing the NM or tex, but it is worsted and knit on 3,5mm circulars. Being my size (XXL) it might qualify for a full project.
I will be wearing it in Coventry for the Ravelry UK Day this weekend.
(Yes, I know, I am German, but they did a good job and there was a cheap flight...All in all this will be cheaper than going to the German Raveller´s meeting in September, where I am honoured to give classes in "Designing your own Aran Style Sweater". I am so looking forward to it.)

52 Weeks KAL-April Projects and New Beginnings

Finally finished and qualifying for April is the cardigan out of yak/merino yarn. Not yet embroidered as planned, because I think it is beautiful now and embellishing can wait for another cardigan.
Here is the proof of two sleeves and room for my global shape.

Bertie socks for my husband. Ordered.

New playful design for some daughter. Not ordered :-)

New sweater for summer, cotton mix, initials will make a clear statement of owner-to-be :-)
This KAL is good for me! I would never have gone for finishing that cardigan as it seemed endless to knit and to sew. Now I am so happy.

Last UFO finished

On January 1, this sweater was 90% complete. I've been knitting gifts and am not finished yet. We have a large family. I worked one square a day to finish this. The yarn is Noro Silk Garden. The pattern is Autumn Leaves Cardigan by Nancie Wiseman, which calls for Noro yarn.

UFO and other projects

I'm still working on a UFO from last year. This is the second sleeve of a Noro cardigan.

Socks are being knit. Pattern is Onion Domes from KnitNet.
A baby sweater for a great grandchild. The yarn is Bernat Baby Coordinates. Nothing got finished this week.

You wouldn´t believe it!

Due to an unforeseen stay in hospital I had the opportunity to knit my heart out on my daughter´s sweater. I may call it finished now and my daughter is happy. The pic is poor as she had neither time nor equipment but wanted to give me a pic to demonstrate the finished status. If I may do so, I would very much like to post a better one later on, perhaps with my daughter in it :-)

This is my project for Jan, 52 week KAL, and would you believe it I am very proud of it. For the records: It will qualify for the obligatory 350+ yards...., it´s size L, 650g in Nimbus.
Have cast on for a pair of red socks with a pattern from a Japanese magazine. Pictures of progress will follow when I am back home. Looking forward to seeing your great knitting. That always gives me a boost to persevere. Now off the net again, but soon to be back home.
May all of you have a great weekend coming !

For a start

Hi all, here is another sweater that will be for my eldest daughter, or better, I have just cast on yesterday in the evening. This is for a sleeve and it is meant to be a big swatch, because this sweater is going to be fitted without ease, so gauge is critical.
