one last 2010 project

i started this in september for the holiday (or not) kal but didn't manage to finish it until december 31st! ok, i get easily distracted. what can i say? at least, i didn't have to try knitting a PAIR!!!

i was hoping to have it blocked by now but that obviously has not happened. i am happy with the photos as this is the first time the colors have come out close to the richness of the colors in real life.

i did piece together the colors so the the stripes are wider in the lace section. i love making more work for myself! =P

will return with a picture of the blocked shawl after that happens.

Hi everyone. Lost the camera in Katie's room last night. Here is my entry!

It is the Kentucky sock from the 50 Socks 50 States cd. I modified it a little for fit. Smaller needles 2.25mm, and decreased down by one more pattern repeat on the foot. The second one definately fits better than the first. I used CPY's Rose Musk colorways too. I like these very much. The only bummer is I kinda made the sweater that it goes with fuzzy. My Dh put it in the dryer. It is not bad enough to get rid of it but I propably won't wear it out of the house. I can not wait for Knit Night to show off the socks! yeah.

12/12/12 Carefree KAL - November

Finished my projects for this month. I used the Margarita Summer sock pattern by Denise Henderly from the 50 Socks - 50 States CD, Shibui yarn in the Pagoda colorway with CPY Kid Merino in Fall Herbs for reinforcement and size 2 square dpn. Also moved this month! The pattern was really fun but I wish the top didn't turn down...errrr. Hopefully that won't be an issue when I am wearing them.

I also knit a scarf using Crystal Palace Choo Choo yarn in Rose and Charcoal. Hope it is OK I am posting both the wip and finished picture - it was an afterthought project in case the sock yardage was on the short side.

I was afraid this yarn might be too busy for the pattern because she recommended a solid or semi-solid, but I LOVE how these turned out. These will be a Christmas gift for my mom, so I hope they fit her.

November 2010 completed Project - Menehune Socks in Crystal Palace "Panda Wool", colour is "Periwinkle". 6 inch cuffs, Ladies Medium - 66 Stitches, 2.25 mm circurlar needles. Estimated completed yardage 340 yards. I love everything about this particular yarn, and Menehune is one of my favorite patterns to knit.

October Finishes

One of Crystal Palace's new colorways. This is Bodega Bay, Mochi Plus. I think it works up very well in entralac. Love how this turned out.

12m/12p/12boy - Oct. 2010 Complete- Brenda (Owlsrook)

October Project Completed - Mini Mochi Gift Set (ruffled garter stitch neckwarmer, ribbed and seed stitch hand warmers, matching gift ruffled gift bag). Completed photo of set, and progress photos are attached. This took 2 50gram balls of Mini Mochi Color #114 - Blooming. I had just over 6 yards of yarn left over. so estimated total yardage for the set = 384 yards. These are my own pattern designs.

All were knit on a size 3.25 mm circular needle. Although the gift bag looks smaller in the photo, when opened up, it has a 3.5 inch square bottom, and expands to hold the neckwarmer and hand warmers.

Here is my September entry. Viva Las Vegas (wiggled.) I am so excited to have my first stranded, afterthought heel, gifted (and unfortunately modified for dress code) socks!

But I love them. I like that depending on how she wears them all of the suits (is that right?) show. Dang I do not wanna give them up, I worked so hard on them. But, I am going to make her mittens next! So, they are more show-offable!

September 2010 Completed CPY Project - Wickerware Socks in Panda Cotton, Colour is Vanilla Cream - Given the amount of yarn left over (about 10 yards) I estimate total yardage about 350 yards for the pair. I really do like the feel of the Panda Cotton, it is very soft.

Argosy scarf finished July 15th (start July 9th). Used all of 3 balls of mini mochi = 585yds, hook 5.0 mm (H).

Also knit a very stretchy hat for my son (that also fits me). Used all of 1 skein cascade yarns sassy stripes, 218yds, needles US 1½ (2.5 mm). Start July 24th, finished July 29th. These two are not a set, just what I actually finished :)

July 2010 Carefree 12/12/12 KAL

Well, I finished with a little time to spare - a moment of panic when the camera didn't want to cooperate! My socks this month are made with Crystal Palace Panda Soy yarn in the Provence colorway. I used the Sultry Lace Sock pattern by Debbie Haymark from the 50 Socks -50 States CD. The needles I used were size 1 square dpn. I had to redo the pattern a little by removing several repeats (my first sock screw-up turned into a little drawstring bag). The beads add a little bling to the top of the socks. Now I am on to the finishing touches on the Dog Days KAL...

12m/12p/12boy - July 2010 Completed - Brenda (Owlsrook)

July 8/10 - completed project for July - Lace Shawl - Started July 1/10, Using mini mochi - estimated 385 yards - using a size 3.5mm circular needle. I only modified this pattern by adding and extra repeat in each section, and deciding I liked the Eyelet edging instead of the Picot edging used in the pattern. This was a fun and very quick knit. (Progress picture was posted last week).

12/12/12 July 4th socks for Fred

I didn't finish these in time for his birthday due to a massive brain fade mistake of skipping the heel turn and going directly to the gusset section. I was shocked when I realized the error (after thinking the sock was funny looking and decreasing most of the picked up sts) and had to frog back to the top of the heel flap and do the turn. I had been knitting in the middle of the night to finish on time and did finish a few minutes ago which is still July 4th "up over" and July 5th here down under.
I used 2 full skeins of Crystal Palace Panda cotton in delft blue and 25 gms of the red ketchup skein + a bit of cream. At least he will be able to wear them mid-July when he teaches in the tropics in Darwin. :) Thuja pattern for the cuff and plain stockinette below the ankles.
