scarf "to be continued"...

I discovered another 45 gms of my hand spun Polwarth that I dyed using the same technique (splash and play with yellow and blue and swirl in the dye pot while poking with wooden spoon) and although it is a bit lighter in color, I think I will try and crochet and edging on the scarf to soften it a bit and make it large enough to wear without the jacket while in my bobbin lace class. Kind of like a very small shawl. I'll post final pic and yardage in a few days (I hope). I have no idea how much of the 225 yds I found it will take.

I'm still LOL about my crummy little scarf having been posted right after the spectacular Autumn in New York shawl. What was I thinking?!

UFO KAL

Hi, here are my finished ufo's so far. CPY baby socks and Homespun purse. Owen love the socks but, he just wants to eat them. Thank you, for the wonderful pattern. And thanks Susan for the Olympic winnings! I so love the purse too. It was sitting around for at least three years and home moves! I love the contrasting handles too. It is perfect for my patterns and projects. I will be using it for a long time. Thanks for getting my ba-doobies in gear to do these things!
Toddler socks 25% done (basically co and ribbing was done)
CPY Panda Soy sock yarn in Cocoa Mint
first winnings Olympic KAL
Black purse 75% done (handles, lining, edging and tons of weaving in yuck)
Homespun yarn and made up in my head rectangle pattern
New project ??? 25% done, Regia socks (okay less than 25%, but started!)

P.S. what is the cut off date for the ufo KAL?

52 Week Challenge - Brenda (Owlsrook)

So my March completed projects to date:
Bluebell Rib Socks - 328 yards
Garter Stitch Rib Socks - 346 yards

On the Needles:
Nothing at the moment, so it's time to decide on a new project.

A pair of socks ready

Joy's socks were frogged and redone as I did not like the cable. They came ready on the 12th. I like how they turned out, and have another pair to cast on for her.
I used 340 yards of "Daffodil"to create this pair of socks.

handspun scarf finished

Fast and easy project. I weighed the scarf and it is exactly 60 gms; before starting weighed 5 yds and got 1 gm. So 300 yds total and had 29" of yarn left after casting off. Whew! That was a close one. :) Scarf not blocked in these pics, but you get the idea. This jacket I made years ago was brighter before wearing it here where everything fades quickly and used to make our peacocks do a double take when I wore it.

scarf break from sock knitting

I spun and dyed some Polwarth fleece last year and have just this one ball of it. I decided to take a break from socks and while looking for some handspun to knit the Maggie bag courtesy of Maz, found this yarn in my pile of fleece and decided it would make a nice scarf. Pattern is "Reclamation scarf" by Stefanie Japel. Next I'll finish the RRH 2nd sock and then do the Maggie bag with some alpaca I am spinning. At least that is the plan for now. Panda superwash grand prize yarn (Joyful) still on my mind...

52 Week Challange - Debbie (Grandma 07)

My Autumn in NY shawl is finished :) I ended up using just over 3 balls of Mini Mochi in Autumn Rainbow. I am having a lot of fun playing with this yarn in a variety of projects. This shawl is very soft and cozy and warm. Perfect for the return to winter we seem to be going through here.

March Starts

Thought I would post some starts for March. There are two sock of the month kits that got buried in my stash. I thought I would get them out and finish them up.

52 Week Challenge - Brenda (Owlsrook)

Garter Stitch Rib Socks - In progress photo. I found a ball of Trekking XXL Colour #172 in my stash, and because of the darkish colour decided to do these in a simple garter rib pattern. Six inch Cuffs, just finished the heel on sock one, now doing gusset decreases. I am using Lantern Moon dpns in size 2.25mm, using 64 stitches.

52 Week Challenge - Brenda (Owlsrook)

Completed Bluebell Rib Socks - 328 yards of Paton Stretch Yarn, using 2.25mm dpns. These knit up pretty quickly, because this is such an easy pattern repeat. Wasn't sure I was going to get enough yardage to count, but ended up just squeeking in at 328 yards.

So March Stats to date:
Bluebell Rib Socks - Completed 328 yards.

Now on to something new.

RRH socks

After all the air show socks, I decided to knit a pair for myself. One of my favorite patterns is Adrienne Fong's Round Robyn's House. I'm using Patonyle dyed in the crock pot with Wilton's teal frosting dye. The first one is finished and I've done one lace repeat on the second. I'll ask my friend to take a pic when she visits this week. I'll post the yardage after Fred calculates it when the 2nd one is finished. This pattern is written beautifully and once you knit one pair, you'll want to make many more.

custom YFM socks

52
I finished the custom YFM socks for Fred (Gridiron by Anne Hanson) and he wore them to a fly-in and dazzled the other pilots. I washed them to find that the blue I had dyed didn't run, but the Cascade Heritage red yarn did. Pink stripes mostly washed out by using a bar of soap. The eucalyptus oil in the wool soaps here seems to draw out the color. Fred thinks I got almost all of it out, but Adrienne came up with a great idea which I'll do when he returns from the big air show. I'll cut off the cuffs and knit them again. Seems everything on this pair has to be twice. First I have to wait for the order of more red yarn from the States. I only have 6 gms left of the original and with my luck lately, would probably need more. I do have another colorway which I can use AFTER reskeining and washing it ahead of time. I had to do that with the blue after discovering it ran, but at least I could wash it out before knitting the socks. The socks fit beautifully and he loves wearing them. I'm using an old camera and will take a pic of the air show sock collection and post after my repaired one is returned to me end of March (I HOPE!).

52 Week Challenge - Brenda (Owlsrook)

Bluebell Rib Socks in Progress - I have just started the heel flap on sock one of this pair, using Paton's Stretch Socks, lightweight cotton blend. The cuff is 5 inches and this is a six stitch repeat over six rows for the Bluebell Rib.

Here we say goodbye to the Chevron Socks in DGB yarn, these have been sent to the very deepest end of the Frog Pond, never to surface again in sock form. Reason, there are just not any sunglasses dark enough to allow a person to wear the completed item in public. The yarn will remain in stash until such time as I find a pattern that shouts, I need Neon.

Oh well, onwards we go.

52 week progress March

Hi I decided to make a pair of socks for my daughter out of the yarn left over from my Olympic socks KAL. She has large feet for her age and I will be stressed out this month. But, I am going to give it a try (to get it finished in time and stay on track.) I so will need prayer on this one. And for my hubby who has been out of work since the third week of December too! Hope you all have a great March.

Jody

Two pairs of socks

One pair finished in February, and one pair in March. Unfortunately I have been offline for a while, due to a transfer from one provider to another. That did not go smoothly, and took longer than expected. In the mean time the flu struck too... had to take a rest from knitting as well.

The first pair is a pair in Panda Soy Ecru, done for the 50 states book that Dr Laura is going to release in June, in coöperation with Crystal Palace Yarns. This is the sock for the state of Tennessee, called Music.

The second pair is done in Trekking XXL 154, and for Alexa. I used 340 yards in this pair, and the rest of the yarn went into the blanket. I still have 20 cm to go to finish the blanket...and boy, that one is getting heavy! (cast on March 1st, finished March 3rd)

The Main Man's Sock Are DONE

AND they've been worn. Does life really get any better than this??? Okay, I'm sure it does. But for a dreary grey mid-twenty degree day, I'm TAKING it and RUNNING!!!

I used about 375 yds of Knitpicks Bare in chestnuts burning over an open fire.

I'm still plugging along on D's birthday sweater and need to snap some other progress pics.

Happy Knitting!

March Project: 50 States HI Sock

Here's the progress shot of my March project, it's the sock I designed that's going to be in the upcoming book on cd 50 Socks - 50 States. I'm very honored and excited to be included in this project and I'm very happy with what I came up with for Hawaii, here's the one sock I just finished:

The inspiration for this sock was the beautiful but deadly display of colors from a volcano eruption, especially the contrast of black and oranges, something like this:

I used Crystal Palace's Panda Cotton in Jet Black and Red Cinnamon.

UFO Challenge: the project I hope to finish in March

This is my 'Sea Lettuce' scarf, done in wool & Tussah silk. I started way back in July 2008 - I am determined to get it done!!!
(about 10% to go)
