2011 PrimeTime August

Ta-dah! These are my socks for August. I really like the pattern and will more than likely make it again, but this time for me.
The pattern and the yarn combined are very stretchy but came out nicely.
The yarn is Panda Cotton, color "Trail Mix".
The pattern is "Muir Woods (California)" from "50 Socks, 50 States".
Needles: size 2's.
These will be a nice Christmas present for my sister and she will absolutely love the colors.

August socks

A toe-up pair for me this time. Gorgeous yarn to work with - Tausendschön in the colourway Valentin, that I swapped with Angeli (Sokkenmuis). Different panel for front and back foot - fun to do! 325 meters are used.

Finished my August prime time shawl. In the Storm clouds. It's soaking right now. Then I will block it along with some other things for the county fair which starts this Saturday. The pattern is In the Pink. Used less than 4 balls of Mini Mochi, color storm clouds. About 694 yds.

Finished Sausalito Scarf

I know I have to post this on the CPY site but it is so pretty I thought I'd post a picture here. This is Sausalito in the Fall Herbs colorway. I added a little garter stitch border at the start and finish and zipped it up with a few beads.

Prize from 50/50 KAL

Look at this beautiful yarn I received from Susan for participating in the 50 Socks 50 States KAL. I love the color! THANK YOU SUSAN!!!

Prime Time KAL - 8/11 WIP

Starting this month with a baby hat and booties... I'll send more info when I post the finished pictures. Going to be cute tho'- I think... They won't have enough yardage so I'll be knitting more... but what - I want to knit everything! :)

Prime Time - August

I didn't show the in progress picture earlier. I've had computer access problems due to house renovations.

These socks fit a size 14 foot. My SIL loves hand knit socks, they really fit. This is my own pattern that i will write up eventually, when things settle down.

The finished socks! Patons Kroy for the solid color and Regia Crazy Color for the contrast. Needles 2.5mm & 3.0 mm

In July, I also knit a sweater for my grandson, an Ann Norling pattern.

Jasmine lace scarf--better photo of yarn

I finally got a better pic to show how lovely this Tapestry Rainbow mini mochi is. :) It is actually even prettier than this shows. Get some and you'll be happy. Trust me. :)

Garden Gate

Garden Gate Shawl

1o hours in the car.....and what do you get? Another shawl pattern in the making. This is a basic short row half circle shawl. Knit from the bottom up with a pattern from Nicki Epstein"Knitting on the Edge" (Yes, those are bobbles). The short rows are done in garter. I used Poems by Wisdom Yarns -- 3 skein s -- 327 yds total to make it work. (Ended up with only a few yards left)
Rav Page: Garden Gate

Jasmine Lace CPY KAL finished :)

Hard to capture the beautiful colors with my camera and lighting here in this mini mochi Rainbow Tapestry yarn.

Finished size is 5" by 42" and it weighs 49 gms. 28 lace repeats with 7 rows of knit at each end.

I'm VERY happy with the results and will enjoy wearing this often. Lovely pattern designed by Adrienne Fong and available for free on Ravelry and at the Crystal Palace Yarns site. :)

rooster raindrops Shizuku scarf for moi

This was a wonderful use for the 2 extra skeins left from the rooster scarf. Free pattern on Rav by Angela Tong. I enlarged the pattern by adding 2 more drops beyond the midline (total of 4 extra drops) and had 15 gms left from the 2 skeins. 64" tip to tip after blocking. Great pattern and I will make another one with some handspun I made years ago and dyed in blues and greens (surprise, surprise). :)

August prime time rooster scarf for Chris

This was a lot of fun to make up as I was going. The final detail was to use a couple of "raindrops" from the Shizuku scarf I made using the leftover 2 skeins from the rooster body. :) See my rav page for a lot more detail if you want to adapt the flamingo pattern and make a rooster. Chris loves it and wears it when he rides his bike. He named the rooster "Bikey". http://www.ravelry.com/projects/peacockmom/flamingo-scarf

"2011 PrimeTime"

August knitting.
This is Panda cotton (colorway Trail Mix) and the pattern is "Muir Woods(California)" from 50 Socks/50 States.
I started these with the intention of knitting them for me but as I got farther into the pattern it turns out they are stretchier than I thought. So they will be a birthday/Christmas present for my sister. Good for her,bad for me!

Julys Project is Done

Just got back from SS11 and had a great time. The bad thing is my suitcase got off the train in Everett and I live in Sumas. My yarn was all packed there. So now I have to wait. But on with my knitting: For SS11 I knit a pair of thigh high socks and I won't be doing that again very soon. I started these sock 3 times on 3 different yarns. I finally decided to use Hazel Knits Shanny Pants, Home Team Football and Cascade Superwash. I finished the foot the first week of July and then decided that I would have to power through these if I was to get them done in time to wear. They then became my main knitting and finished them in two weeks. I hate ribbing there is 11 inches of ribbing on these and I don't think that I want to do that again. Not for a long time but at least I can say that they are done.

I have been working on the wedding veil and am down to the last 12 rounds and have 20 days to finish it and get it blocked. nothing like getting things done at the last minute. It will get done on time.

July Prime Time

I finished several pairs of socks in July, but this was by far my favorite. The pattern is Cowasocky by Leslie Comstock and is due out soon. The design is done in intarsia in the round, knit around then purled back. I don't think I've ever had this much fun knitting a pair of socks before. I'm not much of a toe-socks fan - but my daughter nabbed these quickly!
Knit in about 350 yards of Panda Silk in Jet Black and Natural - the pink udders (or sock toes) were dyed bits of the natural. I actually ran short of the dyed yarn on the last of the toes and had to make more pink. Luckily I had saved the mixture, but messed up the dyeing. The first pink was too light, the second was too dark, but the third pink was JUST RIGHT (well, close enough!)

Primetime July

Here is my July project. It is a felted bag. I used four skeins of Lamb's Pride in purple and one in charcoal. I like it very much but, I am not looking forward to sewing the lining to make it prettier! The purple yarn was seconds and one skein was just a total mess. But, I worked it out with the stripes. I am so glad to be going back to knit with CPY. It is a nice birthday present for me! It can hold so many knitting projects!

cast on-June 2011

cast off-July 27th

yarn- Lamb's Pride

needles- 13

Will I make it again? Probably not with this yarn. But, with CPY totally! My birthday is on Friday and I can get a discount at my LYS! I am so excited and can not wait until Friday!

July Prime Time!

I can't believe we are in August! Does anyone else feel behind on Christmas knitting yet?

I got a few pairs of socks made this month - but I'm most excited to have finished my Maiden Shawl in 5 balls of Panda Silk in Strawberry Cream. I love the blocking process. This went from dresser scarf size to a nice sized shawl.

woody mountain dorable

This was a last minute project for July
Pattern is called: Dorable by Gari Lynn
Easy knit used a little over 2 skeins of Lion Brand Tweed Stripes(in Woodland) for a total of 324 yds. Size 10 1/2 needles make for a quick project.

The above shows a modification that I tried -- a shetland lace pattern. I ripped it back after about 18" ---I just didn't like the way it looked. But the photo shows the colors well.....so I am leaving it in. This pattern is basically 2 triangles with a rectangle connecting them. The triangles are done in garter, the rectangle in a mesh lace pattern. Your could probably use other lace patterns, or different yarn weights.
These are one of those GDM (Gauge doesn't matter) patterns!!
