Done!! And 2011 project started even!

I finished the thumb of the 2nd mitten at 10pm last night! Adrienne is laughing at me for making the whole set in 24 hrs, but aren't they pretty??????

So they together weigh 159gm, which is 333yrds by my calculations. (And I even started a sock for my January project when I was done!)

December Project Take 2

Hat WIP Pic
Hat finished. 1st mitten started.

Hat and 1st mitten finished. About to CO for mitten #2.
So, I thought I had finished my december project, but I was mistaken about the yardage. Sooooo, the only thing on my needles was a hat. Decided quickley that I would finishe hat and make matching mittens in 24 hours to finish on time. It is the Amanda Hat in Malabrigo worsted and mittens (improvised by me) to match. It is 9am and I am finished Hat and Mitten #1. The hat weighs 65gms and the mitten 48 gm, so if my calculations are correct, byt the time the second finished mitten is done, the total weight will be 160gm, which is just over 300yrds. I'll have sore fingers and wrists, ut I'll finish the KAL and have a beautiful Hat and mitts to show for it!
Off to knit......

November 12m/12p/12boy

This is my finished project for November. It was a test knit for MrsZoomie(ravelry name) for her Jacobite Cardigan design. I LOVE it!! I used Berroco Vintage in Fennel and it took 4 skeins (so 868 yrds). It is perfect for fall and winter and I have had lots of compliments on it already.

Sorry about the picture quality. They were taken by my 8 year old!

12m/12p/12boy October Finished

Finished Socks

WIP Picture

My october finished project is a pair of Knee-High socks for my 10 year old neice. They were supposed to be for her birthday last week, but I am saving them for Christmas now. They fit my 8 year old son very well and almost to the knee, so they will be perfect for her.

I used almost every last yard of 2 balls of Kroy Sock Stripes (330 yrds)and Yarn Harlot's basic sock recipe and just knit the leg until it was 27gm of the wool. The heels look funny in the pick, but they are regular heels and don't look so funny for real!

September 12M/12P/12BOY

WIP Picture

Completed Dress.

My september project is the Rainbow Dress by Georgie Hallam (tikki). It is so easy and customizable and super cute on my little girl (just need her to hold still for a pic with it on!) I used Red Heart Eco-ways yarn. The dress took a little more than 2.5 balls (about 480 yrds). I love the yarn used in the original dress, but since this is for a very active 2 yr old, I needed something durable and washable! Would be soooo cute in Mochi though.

August 12m/12p/12boy finished?

Finished Sweater

WIP Pic

Well, this was a tough month for me, knitting wise. We were on holidays so you would think I would get lots done and I did, but not alot of big projects. I was working furiously to finish a dress for my daughter (Pekin from Berroco). Cast off last night and realized that the bodice is waaaaaayyyyy too big for her and for the rest of the dress. Don't know if I did something wrong or just need to modify it a bit. Sooo, the only other project I have to offer is my Top-Down Wrap Cardigan from Knitting Pure and Simple. It is made in Cascade 220 and used 990 yrds. It was mostly finished months ago but I finally sewed in the ends, blocked it and ordered a pin for closure. I don't have a pic of the pin yet, but the sweater is finished and it is cool enough here to finally wear it too!

July 12m/12p/12boy Finished

Work in Progress Picture

Finished Back View

Finished minus the button. Looking for the perfect one, of course.

This is the Garter Ridge Hoodie from Petite Purls by Erika Flory. I modified it to make it seamless and despite the poor pictures of the FO, I LOVE it!!! I splurged and used Mission Falls Cotton which was perfect for it. I used 7.5 balls so nearly 640 yrds and alot of ends to weave in! (But at least I didn't have to seam anything!)

June Finished Project

Work in Progress Picture

Finished Sweater!

I finished a Test Cardigan for a Baby Girl (who is yet to be born). I knit it with KnitPicks Stroll Tonal in Springtime colour which is very beautiful yarn and the varigation was perfect for the little cardi. It took a little less than 100gm (about 400 yrds).

May Project

My May Project was a scarf/wrap for my Mom as it is her Birthday and Mother's day all within a week. I made a scarf called Athabasca Spring by Melissa McColl. It was a free pattern on Ravelry and her scarf was so beautiful that I had to make it. I couldn't find the same yarn here at my LYS, so I improvised. I used the full skein of Punta Merisoft wool (197 yrds) and about half (135 yrds) of Araucania Ruca which is made of 100% sugarcane (who knew you could make yarn out of sugarcane?)(and no it's not sweet.. I licked it to check..LOL).

The result is a beautiful drapey wrap/scarf that would be warm enough on a cool spring/summer evening, or a soft warm scrunched up scarf in the winter. The finished picture doesn't do it justice, but it was the best I could do. The Ruca is so soft and shiny and is a great contrast to the soft, warm Punta wool.

April 12m/12p/12boy Finished!

Project #1 is the Pembroke Vest made as a gift for a co-worker's new baby boy. I used Cascade 220 Superwash and made the 18 month size which used approx. 1.5 skeins (330 yrds). I'll need to get pics on a little person since it looks really skinny but will stretch alot.

Project #2 is a Booga Bag for my Cousin's Birthday. I used approx. 510 yrds of Lion Brand Fisherman wool, then felted it. Added grommets for the handles, a magnetic clasp and a pottery Acorn button I ordered from Etsy. I made the Icord felted handle, but I really like the idea of using a pretty scarf. I'm not sure if the one I have is the right one, but I wanted a picture of it to demonstrate. I think it would be nice with a dark red scarf with leaves of big flower patterns. Anyway, I really like it with the plain brown handle too. I'll let my cousin decide!
Next project... socks I believe.

April 12m/12p/12boy Progress

Here are my 2 Works-in-Progress this month:
The top one is a Booga Bag knit in Fisherman's Wool in Natural Brown and the bottom one is Pembroke Vest in Cascade 220 superwash. I've knit 400m of the Fisherman's wool so far and have about 200m more, then felting.
I am nearly halfway through the vest front then I have to sew it together and do the neck and armholes. Both are gifts, so I am doing them simultaneously in hopes of finishing both!

A Pair of Little Girl Shrugs

My March 12m/12p/12boy project was a pair of shrugs for my daughter and my neice. They are 3 months apart, so I made size 2T for both and have yet to decide which one I'm keeping and which I am giving.
The top one is the Whirligig Shrug from Interweave Magazine (winter 2009) and the bottom one is th Little Girl's Shrug from Knitting Pure and Simple. I love the LGS pattern so much. It is super easy, has 5 sizes and can be altered easily to make a cardigan, short sleeved, long, sleeved, lace vs. rib finished edging. I love patterns that can play with.
I made them both with Red Heart Eco-ways Yarn. Not the most glamourous yarn, but soft and machine washable which is just right for toddlers. I used most of 2 balls for both, so about 350 yrds.

February 12m/12p/12boy Finished!

I finished my Citron Shawlette. I'm not too sure what I think of it. I thought my Mom would like it, but I'm having doubts now. Anyway, it's done and I figured out how to block it (a little crooked, mind you).

I used Zauberball fingering weight, which is 460 yrds/100gm and I had 6 gm left over.

February Progress

Here's a picture of my Feb Project in progress. I am doing the Citron Shawl in Zauberball. I started the multidirectional Scarf, but didn't like the result, so frogged it and decided on this. I have come to the conclusion that unless I'm knitting socks, I am not a huge fan of knitting with fingering weight. Maybe because socks are such a tight weave it hides my uneven knitting? Anyway, I think I will try that scarf again, but with a worsted or aran weight.

I am hoping I finish this shawl for February. I was doing a test knit (the one I steeked) but I wasn't sure if I could use it as an FO since it's not a published pattern (yet). I'd love to show it off though, so if you feel so inclined, you can visit it here

January Project Finished (Again!)

I finished the second knitting of the Shalom Cardigan. I amm soooooo happy that I redid it as it fits much better than the first time. Now I just have to add buttons, but can't decide, so I posted a picture of my options if anyone wants to give an opinion. I used 4 balls of Berroco Comfort Chunky, so total yardage is 600yrd. (I used almost every last inch of each ball!)
Let's hope February's project goes more smoothly ;-)

January Progress (or lack there of...)

So, there is my Shalom Cardigan nearly completed and then there it is again.... completely frogged! I have never frogged an entirely finished project (or 600yrds!), but it was too big and too shapeless and I knew I wouldn't be happy with it, so there it went. I really should have trusted the pattern and not used so many mods from other knitters. My SO (who normally doesn't comment on my knitting) was in shock that I would rip out an entire adult sweater, but it really had to be done.

So, I have cast on again following the pattern more closely. The only mods I have planned to do are to shorten the yoke section slightly and to add a couple more button holes. Now, hopefully, I haven't lost my mojo with this project and I will still have it done by the end of January! Live and learn... and keep knitting...right??? LOL

January Project in progress

I started the Shalom Cardigan in Berocco Comfort Chunky on January 4th. The top picture is after the first ball and the bottom picture after the second ball. I'm adding the 3rd tonight. I have no idea how others have made this with only 3 balls. I will definitly need 4 (and hopefully only 4!). I do love it so far and the pattern is super easy to follow. I love anything that is worked seamless and top-down, so this is my kind of sweater!
