leaf wrap scarf started for Holiday or Not KAL

The first leaf took 1.5 hours, but was easy to do watching a mystery. I think this will be a good take along project. I'm already thinking of spinning and dyeing some yarns for another one. :)

September Carefree KAL

This month I made a pillow for my son's new desk chair. He chose the pattern and his favorite colors--the Italian flag. He's thrilled with the results! I'm happy to say that I am too.

This was made from an Italian pattern that actually had four rings. My son wanted three colors, so I modified it slightly changing the size of the rings. Unfortunately I ran out of green when I was working on the backside so it's not quite three equal parts, but if I didn't mention it, you probably wouldn't have noticed. I used ca. 350 meters of yarn.

September Socks - Primetime Kal

Busy month... the start of the new school year and quite something to do on the knitting front as well. A lot of projects can't be showed yet, as they are due to appear in magazines. And we've had our share of sick people as well.... Wietse had an ear infection but is improving, and now both Alexa and Steven are sick - they ate outdoors last Sunday and got food poisoning. Miserable. Personally I'd love to see the kids healthy instead. I did finish a pair of socks though....

Yarn used is Fliegende Untertasse - Flying Saucer. 330 meters were used to create this pair.

update on the frogged sock

I ran out of the blue and green yarn and decided to let it be the "featured design element" with the interesting stitch used for the leg. I used some skinny bugga in blue lobster color and a smaller needle for the heel flap and remainder of the sock. Fits nicely now and I will take a better pic of it when Fred is wearing them next month.

He said the parrots will be jealous when they see the socks. :)

I plan to make another pair using more of the blue lobster and with a few inches of the green and blue clown stitch repeats as an accent stripe. I'll need to weigh the remaining yarn to make sure I don't run out (again).
I had actually knit the heel flap and turn using the blue green yarn and knew it would be hopeless to try and make them match. This way the heel flap has the stronger yarn and it was very easy to just switch colors at the end of the leg section.
Spent a lot of time at the frog pond lately, but I think the end result is worth it. Ribbit...

The glorious Clown sock start hit a road block and will now be my October Primetime project. Sigh...My gauge was off and the sock was too loose which meant it wouldn't last long. Thanks to Adrienne for mentioning that and suggesting I frog back to the end of the leg section. I'd rather do that and have them last a long time. I also ran out of the yarn so the foot part will have some skinny bugga in it.

I'm submitting the completed Broken Chocolate Bar by Corrina Ferguson socks for my September entry. I ran out of the yarn for it and had to complete the second sock with some Panda cotton (Sahara colorway) which fortunately worked beautifully. :)

I got this terrific pattern designed by our own Adrienne on the 16th and decided to make it immediately. Fred told me it looks like "parrotdaddy socks" so that's what we call them now. I will finish by end of September and probably make a second pair soon.

WONDERFUL pattern which is a lot of fun to knit and quite fast. It just seems to glide off the needles the way the stitch pattern is set up. This is a real winner and is great for breaking up some wild looking yarn. I have a lot of that kind. :)

The Gypsy Rover came over the hill.....

This is my Gypsy Rover Shawl. Based on the Caireen By SusannaIC. I used almost all of 4 skeins for Plymouth Encore DK -- about 575 yards. Shawl measures 54 inches by 12 inches.

These are socks for my father-in-law.  I started them on Aug. 27, finished today Sep. 18, 2011.  Yarn is Jo-Ann Sensations Soles & More that I got on clearance for less than $2 each.  The balls are 60g each and I used 100g total, about 438 yds, needles US 1 - 2.25 mm.

Prime Time KAL - 9/11 WIP

I am making a Christmas stocking for my grandson, Bobby. I am trying to match the size to one I made for Ryan and they are pretty close... I used a size 8 needle and Encore bulky yarn. I am also making a pair of baby socks with size three needles and a dishcloth with size 9 needles for my daughter's wedding shower. Between the 3 projects it will be well over 300 yards... the Christmas stocking is close to being that on its own.

September Prime Time

Gonna use this here afghan that I finished for this month because I haven't sewn my veil to the comb yet, so I don't have any nice drapey pictures to show it off yet.

The pattern is the Washed Ashore Afghan by Lion Brand. I ran out of yarn before I could finish the pattern, but it's still at least 1200 yards of crochet, if not more, so it qualifies! I used an M/N hook. I have gifted it to a coworker for use in his man-cave at home.

The yarn is some discontinued imported yarn called Unger Le Tweed and claims to be hand-wash only, but I washed it on low spin cycle in cold water, and then tumble-dried low for a bit, and it came out fine. It's mostly acrylic and synthetic type yarns, so I figured as long as I didn't let it get too hot it'd be alright.

Prime Time September

Catching up on posts for this month, here's a pair of socks I finished for my granddaughter. My own design. The color contrast could be better. I'll publish the pattern when I reknit with more contrast(y) yarn. On the first sock, I knit the foot with needles too large. I reknit with the same needles I'd used for the cuff, and it looks much better.

The grey yarn is Kroy 4 ply Socks. The contrast is Grundl Hot socks, which had more dark colors than I realized.

I'm working on a SKA challenge, knitting Aragorn socks from Janeke Maat. The yarn is Sushi Sock acquired in a sock club for men. I didn't think that the color or yardage was appropriate for my man, so i knit their pattern in another yarn. Now it's my turn, and I'm keeping these.

Two projects for September!

I fell in love with SpillyJane's Gnome mittens. This is my first stranded colorwork project ever. They aren't perfect and they pucker where the 2 circs met but, when they are on my hands, no one knows but me!

September Prime Time

In a weak moment I agreed to participate in another competitive sock knitting contest. Crazy? Yes. But these things are FUN!

This finely crafted weapon knit in CPY Maizy is scheduled to hit its Target soon in Sock Sniper. The pattern is Pulled Salt Water Taffy by Jackie Erickson-Schweitzer. I had just a smidgen of yarn left from the 2 balls.

Aug is over already????

Needed a baby gift so wanted to see this done in a solid color. Sadly did not get to go to the shower, but the new mom was very happy with it. As am I.


Hat does look tiny. Had to take quick pictures as this was going out the door as fast as it came off needles.

A good friend is now a School Sect. So I made her school color clogs. Ya know for those long days...she can go running down the halls when everyone has gone home.
