October Projects finished.

The Trailing Vines Mitts are finished and the pattern is available on Ravelry. It will be available on Patternfish soon. Yarn is Regia 6-ply, 3.0 mm needles. About 150 yards used.

I also finished a Christmas stocking for a customer. 190 yards of yarn. The yarn is from a huge house sale haul years ago, cheap worsted weight acrylic. Needles: US #7/4.5 mm. This is the latest in a series of stockings for this family.

I will have finished projects for October!! I WILL!

Actually, I'll have 2 projects, which will add up to enough yardage to count. First there are the fingerless mitts. The yarn is Regia 6-ply on 3.0 mm needles. I have designed these and the pattern will be available on Ravelry and Patternfish.

This is part of a Christmas stocking for a customer, the latest in her family series. I designed it a few years ago, and am knitting hte same design again with a couple of modifications.

More August Finishes

I finished two scarves. The green one was started in January and saved for times when I needed easy knitting. A shop hop trip with my guild provided the time for finishing. The yarn is Noro Matsuri. I also finished my Swiss Cheese scarf. This was a guild KAL, using a rayon blend cone yarn that I bought a long time ago because it was pretty.

My daughter asked for fingerless mitts for running, but she wanted her thumbs covered. The chosen yarn, which has purple in it, is Patons Stretch Cotton Socks. I then used Wool-Ease for short covers for cooler days. I figured that if she is running in even colder weather, she has something else to wear.

A new great grandson will be joining the family in September. He will get a new hat, since he can wear the sweater I knit for his sister. It looks like a tomato. The patter is Ann Norling's Fruit Hat pattern.

Final finish is a pair of Lucy Neatby's Fiesta Feet. They've been on my to-do list for years, and the challenge for the Ravelry SKA was stranded knitting. The feet of these are stranded. Last night someone counted up how many patterns there are on the socks (6). The woman is crazy, but I think we suspected as much.

I have shown in progress pictures for some of these (not the tomato, which was knit in one afternoon), but threw them up here anyway. I already have credit for an August finish. It was a good month for finishing.

Another One Bites the Dust

Another project finished! Status Jan. 1 one mitt finished and one mitt about 1/3 knit.

The pattern is Stulpen by Petra. The pattern was written in German, but the English translation is lower on the page. The yarn is Regia 6 ply from my stash. I knit 2 pairs of these with my nieces in mind, but we didn't see them for the holiday, so they go in the gift basket for the future.

I don't finish the Ruffled Roses scarf by the end of the KAL (or I decide to keep it), I started the Darkside Cowl (Ravelry link) for a friend of mine in Malabrigo Silky Merino in Arlene's Purples:


and a pair of Cafe Au Lait Mitts (also a Rav link) in some stashed Lana Grossa Numero Uno for a co-worker:


I've also got a couple skeins of Crystal Palace Merino 5 (a nice workhorse superwash yarn that I think is underrated) in pink that I'll probably knit into a baby hat & booties set. I just haven't decided what pattern to use.

Plugging along

My second pair of Maine Morning Mitts are done. These will definitely be gifted since the colorway seems so very 80's pink (& black). And with the weather being so warm this weekend, I washed all my completed gift knits & have them drying in the shade

I've been restless in trying to decide on my next gift knitting, so I decided to simply cast on for Monkey2's mini-monkey since I am long overdue in making hers. Monkey1's mini-monkey was knit during Blue Moon Fiber Arts Camp Kaw Kaw (sock camp) back in April this year.

I should be knitting some cowls or more mitts for my co-workers, but nothing, not even Ravelry, has been inspiring me, so I took inspiration from my knitting buddy, tapmouse2, and started Annie Modesitt's Ruffled Roses Scarf pattern.


I'm not sure if I'll finish this in time for the end of the KAL, so I may end up casting on other gift knits instead. I just need to decide on what yarn to combine with what pattern.

Lucky 7 Hat

Lucky for someone, but not for b-day brother. I should've gone up one or 2 more needle sizes 'cause it's a bit too snug to be a small adult hat. This will probably got to my cousin's 12 yr old or to dd1's male friends.

the colors are just like noro but the yarn is butter soft, the color transitions are very subtle, and THERE IS NO VEGGIE MATTER!

this fingerless mitt project is a sample for susan; and will not be a "pair" because there ain't enough yarn! yes!
a valid excuse not to knit a pair! i will be writing the pattern for the mitt and a matching scarf. (and i think this pattern would also make some wonderful socks so will be doing that too. susan said i could). now to wait for this yarn to be available for real. i wonder how many skeins it takes to stuff an over-deep queen size mattress?!

update

In this post I posted a photo with two started projects. The small one on the right with the bamboo needles was the cuff of the fingerless mitten that I started. At the moment, one is finished and the second one is half way done and will be finished tonight. It is done in Panda Soy Stained Glass.

To be honest, I enjoy knitting with this yarn. I do like the touch of it, but you are really surprised when you wear one on your hands... the soft touch and warmth it is spreading...it sure makes me happy.

And... for one pair of fingerless mittens, I need just one skein.
