It's all About Me again

In late February, I blogged about a shawl knit from the Panda Silk DK, thatI received as a 12/12/12 prize. I was turning it into a shawlette. There was not enough yarn to complete the pattern as written, so I left off one lace repeat and edged it with garter stitch. That worked very well.

Closed with a china rose pin from my ancient history. That keeps it on my shoulders at work.

And again for me, a pair of mitts that I'm calling Odd Fellows. I had said that there was no repeat in the yarn colors. I was wrong! There is no usable repeat in this ball of Mini Mochi.

More for Me

Last week, I received a ball of Mini Mochi in the mail. I love the feel of the yarn, but it is splitting on #2 needles used in my current project. I've designed a pair of fingerless mitts. I'm not writing up this pattern, because I think I can do better.

This will be a pair of mis-matched mitts. the ball of yarn has no repeat colors.

I finished the shawlette from the Panda Silk DK yarn. The two projects together will have enough yardage for a prize.

More August Finishes

I finished two scarves. The green one was started in January and saved for times when I needed easy knitting. A shop hop trip with my guild provided the time for finishing. The yarn is Noro Matsuri. I also finished my Swiss Cheese scarf. This was a guild KAL, using a rayon blend cone yarn that I bought a long time ago because it was pretty.

My daughter asked for fingerless mitts for running, but she wanted her thumbs covered. The chosen yarn, which has purple in it, is Patons Stretch Cotton Socks. I then used Wool-Ease for short covers for cooler days. I figured that if she is running in even colder weather, she has something else to wear.

A new great grandson will be joining the family in September. He will get a new hat, since he can wear the sweater I knit for his sister. It looks like a tomato. The patter is Ann Norling's Fruit Hat pattern.

Final finish is a pair of Lucy Neatby's Fiesta Feet. They've been on my to-do list for years, and the challenge for the Ravelry SKA was stranded knitting. The feet of these are stranded. Last night someone counted up how many patterns there are on the socks (6). The woman is crazy, but I think we suspected as much.

I have shown in progress pictures for some of these (not the tomato, which was knit in one afternoon), but threw them up here anyway. I already have credit for an August finish. It was a good month for finishing.

Another One Bites the Dust

Another project finished! Status Jan. 1 one mitt finished and one mitt about 1/3 knit.

The pattern is Stulpen by Petra. The pattern was written in German, but the English translation is lower on the page. The yarn is Regia 6 ply from my stash. I knit 2 pairs of these with my nieces in mind, but we didn't see them for the holiday, so they go in the gift basket for the future.

Another pair!

Except that it's still not a pair of socks; those, alas, remain single.

Instead, it's a pair of mitts.
I can't for the life of me get the color to come out right; imagine them more gold-y, and you've got it.

These are the Spiraluscious Mitts, by Anne Hanson (I don't think the pattern is out yet, but it will be soon, and meanwhile, the matching neckwarmer is). I used Shivaya Naturals Silky Merino yarn (which is such fun to knit with!), about 150 yards for the pair. This is a great knit, and they look wonderful on; I wish I knew someone who's getting married, because they would be beautiful wedding mitts, knitted in a white silk...
They're still not blocked. I put them on as soon as I wove the ends in, and haven't been able to make myself take them off. Maybe I'll make another pair for someone for the holidays, because I think I'm going to have to keep these!
