Moonchild socks

I love, love, love this pattern! The pattern is Moonchild by our own Adrienne Fong. The yarn is Sanguine Gryphon's Skinny Bugga! in colorway Blue Metalmark. Isn't the yarn perfect for the pattern? I'll use approximately 390 yards in this project. Sock #1 is done, Sock #2 is in progress. I started this project January 21, 2010.

Hi everyone - I hope I'm doing this correctly! I started this sock for my older son on January 2. It's my plain vanilla toe-up (heh - aren't you impressed, Miss A?) with short-row heels. The two yarns are: GothSocks in colorway Business Time (striping) and Wollmeise Schwarz for the toes, heels and ribbing. My son loves them! I used approximately 400 yards for this project.

Warm Winter Goodies for Jan's 12-12-12

After realizing I wouldn't be able to finish the socks I was doing for January, I quick pulled out some stashed yarn I had for winter stuff and...well, made winter stuff.

First up is the Ridged Lace Cowl I made with Lion Brand Wool-Ease, in wheat. I used all but a little bit of the skein, so I'd say that's at least 190 yards right there (full yardage 197). Making an appearance in the finished picture is my Hermione Hat that I made last year. =D

Then I made Collected from the Hattitude book in Lion Brand Wool-Ease Chunky, which is about 150 yards per skein. And I used two and a half skeins for the hat, so that comes to about 415 yards total. Yay!

And can you blame me for trying to take a cute picture of it for my facebook? =D It's turned to the side so the tassels would be in it, but they should normally be in the back of course.

Thanks for the mochi plus. I am busy knitting a shawl for a friend that lost her mom yesterday. Hoping to finish it up soon.

Prize yarn and knitting update

My prize yarn arrived this week too:


Sky Blue Panda Soy - I love wearing my Panda Soy socks. They are so comfy!!

And, it was kinda funny because when I opened the package, I realized it was the same color as the Maizy socks I am currently knitting! What can I say - I like blue! I did finish one Maizy sock:

The pattern is "Friday Harbor" from Nancy Bush's book "Knitting on the Road".

I have cast on the 2nd one, but just finished the cuff... I doubt I'll finish the pair in January because I just keep casting on more projects! I am planning to start knitting Bling tomorrow from the 50 states 50 socks CD.

I also needed a break from sock knitting, so I decided to knit Kala's cute Nesting pattern:



This was so much fun, I am already choosing yarns to knit a 2nd set!!

I am enjoying seeing everyone's finished projects in the 12/12/12 KAL. Knit on!!

to find yarn in your mailbox when you get home????? My Mini-Mochi arrived today (from the Holiday KAL) Thank you, Thank you, Thank you again. The colour is awesome and I can hardly wait to start knitting with it. Just have to decide on a project now.

Finished project for January

I cut it a little closer than I'd intended to, but I did manage to start and finish a project in January:Lighthouse Gansey Socks (Anne Hanson) in Briggs & Little Durasport 'Smoke,' 2.25mm dpns.

They weren't the most interesting socks I've ever knit, but I'm really happy with how they turned out.

January WIP + Prize Yarn

Here's my WIP photo for the month:

It's a September Scarf Shawl, out of Knit Picks Shadow Kettle Dyed. Very quick knit, it's all finished and even blocked. I'm hoping to get some decent photos of it tomorrow, my camera isn't too thrilled with the orange.


And here's my prize yarn, which is even prettier than I thought it would be!
It's Kid Merino in Painted Iris. I'm looking forward to using it, I already have some potential patterns in mind. Thanks again to everyone, you all are wonderful!

Hi all, I forgot to post a progress pic before. But my project for this month is the bag I knit and felted for my sister's b'day present.

The first picture is when I started it, technically for the second time as I frogged my first start. I cast on January 18th and finished January 26th.

The other two pics are the finished bag. I used Malabrigo for the letters, some yummy green stuff that I lost the label from as soon as I wound it, and two colors of Lamb's Pride, those are the lavender and the cream.

first "Green Thumb" mitt finished for Fred

I finished the first mitt early this morning and will knit the matching one today (and night). Same yarn I used for Chris: Bendigo Luxury DK 100% wool. Then back to the 3 remaining Rainbow socks which I will finish in time for February posting for my 12 month entry. Once the Olympic KAL begins, I want to do another In the Land of Oz in shawlette size. I LOVE that pattern. Can you tell? LOL
Chris told me the mitts helped his hands so much that he slept with them on. How's THAT for gratifying and making a knitter happy?! :)

First FO for 2010

With all of the projects I'm working on, I finally finished one! These are Monkey Socks knit with 2 skeins (approx. 450 yards) Knit Picks Stroll Multi in Blue Violet Multi.
Now on to finishing the Winter Mystery Shawl 2009....

January 12/12

hi, here is the scarf I did for January. But, it is lost in one of the kid's rooms. They snaked it from me because it is so soft. I hope you all are having a great New Year so far. Been really busy with Darin out of state. Yeah for the Olympics!

Mitts for Chris and Fred

Green Thumb by Diana Foss using Bendigo Luxury DK 100% wool for this pair of mitts. Chris has had trouble with cold hands (but has a very warm heart) :). I took a break from sock knitting to make these for him and am happy to say he likes them. The H is for his surname. When Fred saw them, he knew he wanted a pair for flying this winter so I started them before the Olympic KAL and before getting back to the socks for February.

This is an easy pattern that is interesting enough to avoid boredom and fits many size hands comfortably. These won't count for anything other than to share with friends who love to knit. :) The 2 days and nights I knitted were enjoyable and I was inspired thinking of Debi knitting a pair of socks in half that amount of time. Amazing!

CPY Project - January 12/12/12 KAL

Completed Crystal Palace Yarn Project for January - lace socks, ladies medium, based on the Infant's Fancy Silk Sock pattern from the book "Knitting Vintage Socks". I used two 50 Gram Balls of Panda Wool in the color "Bluebell". I used about 360 yards
in total. Cuffs are 5.5 inches. I know I said it last time, but, I love this yarn.

I posted two pictures of these socks, one taken with flash and one without, the actual color of the yarn is somewhere between the colors the photos show.

1 ball was used to make these - the hands were an idea from Steven. He made them last summer for me.

This is my CPY project for January - I still have time to do a pair of socks to meet the required yardage.

Update: The ear infection is still not entirely gone - I have to go to the hospital next week to visit the specialist.

While I'm posting I might as well post a progress of my Rivendell Socks I've got one done and am working on the second one but I get tired of ktb. To me it just slows me down so I have not been working on it a lot. Well back to another sock.

My January Knitting

I finished something this month. This pair of socks are called Angee from Cookie A.'s book. Love this pattern and the yarn knit like a dream form Wool Candy, her Meringue Merino, Cerises.

Well on to the next pair and see what else I can get done this month.

More January Progress

My Motley Jester socks are looking good. It's hard to know how they'll look when you are using leftovers. I did run short of grey yarn on the toes, so I will probably wear then with shoes that cover the toes. The final picture will show all the colors on the legs.

Green scarf grow slowly. I'm knitting other things.

I've started a pair of gloves for my youngest daughter. This is the last of Christmas 2009. We were supposed to see her in January, but she says its too cold and snowy here. She'll come home this summer.

Update later in January

I'm still slogging along on my Lighthouse Gansey socks - they get a lot less interesting once the patterned cuff is done, and my dad has big feet. I'm hoping I'll finish them by the end of the month, though.

I've also cast on for another pair of socks:

My valentine scarf

Here's my start photo of the Valentine scarf, done in CPY Panda Silk. So soft and smooth, and not splitty at all! I love it!

My beautiful Panda Silk prize arrived today! I'll be casting on tomorrow for a My Valentine Scarf.
The color is just beautiful, you will see! (I'm waiting til tomorrow, because then it will count for another KAL.
In the meantime, thank you so much to all who make this KAL happen, and to Susan Dr Laura and Adrienne especially!

Project #3

I named these socks as a small tribute to all of the women, including my mother, of whom it has been said, or written "....she had a heart of gold." I think my mom would have liked these socks!

January project finished!!

I started the 3rd pair on 1-15 and finished 1-17.


Then I started the 4th pair 1-18 and finished 1-20.



And here are all 4 pairs together!


Now that all of the boring socks are done I can start planning for my Muir Woods socks!
