September 2010 Completed CPY Project - Wickerware Socks in Panda Cotton, Colour is Vanilla Cream - Given the amount of yarn left over (about 10 yards) I estimate total yardage about 350 yards for the pair. I really do like the feel of the Panda Cotton, it is very soft.

sept project

This is a restart - started this pair of socks for a Ravelry friend last week. Was well cruising with it, and then made a mistake :-( Had to frog the sock - as the patterning is very intensive.

So, as I said, it is a restart. Until now, things are going well, but not that fast, as I have to be careful. I made myself a promise... if I have to frog it again, I'll throw the pattern in the corner (LOL)

September knitting

I finished one small thing, so small there is no in progress photo. I'll show it again with something else, so it will count then. The basic pattern is Ann Norling's Fruit Hat pattern, with a flower from Nicky Epstien's Embellishment book. Yardage is under 100 yds in worsted weight yarn.

A slow progress project is my Baby Kimono from Mason Dixon Knitting. It's slow, because I only work on it when I watch TV and want mindless knitting. Easy Stockinette fills the bill. The yarn is dishcloth cotton left over from a jacket I made.

There are socks on the needles. The Ravelry SKA Mystery sock by Adrianne Fong. Is at sock #1, Clue #1. I plan to keep these.

Ravelry Solid socks is having a brown month. I have a Ram Club pattern. The given yarn would not have been enough for a man's sock, so substitution has been made. This yardage will fit DH's feet, even if I have to make the last toe with something else. Current yarn is Hazel Knits Artisan Sock. The pattern really pops.

The SKA group also has a color of the month, black, or white, or black/white. I have black yarn, Bernat Sox in Jet Hot. Pattern is from Sock Innovation by Cookie A. Glynis is what was chosen. These will go to a granddaughter.

September 3/10 - In Progress Photo - CPY Project - Wickerware Socks in Panda Cotton - Vanilla Cream colorway. This is a really nice texture pattern, and very easy, just
a six row repeat. I wasn't sure this was the best colour for the the pattern, but I like it a lot as I knit along. These are being knit for me, ladies size medium on 64 stitches, size 2.5mm needles for guage.

12/12/12 August Finish

I finished this apron yesterday, but I didn't manage to get a picture of it finished on the computer until today. I made it with size 8 needles. The blue is Lily Sugar & Creme in Hot Blue, and the lighter is Pigsah's cotton in Ombre. It came out to about 700 yards-ish.

The apron is Knitty's Party Apron and I slightly modified the TARDIS chart from the Exterminate Hat.

I didn't realize until I finished it that I never got a good "in the works" picture. I mean, I'd taken one and posted it up as a preview pic for the person I made it for on August 21, so I hope that's enough. I'd just gotten a bit further than the row of TARDISes and wanted to show them off.

August Project - Socks again

Okay, I know I said it would not be socks again this month, but . . .

Karma has occurred - four previous times I was called to jury duty and four times I was picked for a jury. Figured this time would be the same. Instead, I was only there for four hours, then dismissed totally. Wow! I had just pulled out the dishcloths, after a lady sitting next to me had pulled out a scarf, on real knitting needles - she was a lot more daring than I was. So it was back to knitting during transportation.

Then one of my son's friends requested some socks for hunting season here in Wisconsin. He is also going to do some minor plumbing repairs for us, so - priorities changed. Here are his socks. Again, size 0 needles, using Froehlich Wolle, Blauband MaxiRinge, color 7703, toe up. Hopefully he will like them. Color is closer to the in-progress scan than the photo. Son is home, so finished shot is from the camera. Think we may need to have a discussion about artistic presentation (they are plopped on the bed here). Probably still better than the jammed-on-a-scanner shots I usually post. I had suggested that he put them on his feet - you would have thought I had suggested cannibalism. Sigh.

Still need to build up the dishcloth stash. Maybe next month. Regards to all.

WIP Pic

Well, this was a tough month for me, knitting wise. We were on holidays so you would think I would get lots done and I did, but not alot of big projects. I was working furiously to finish a dress for my daughter (Pekin from Berroco). Cast off last night and realized that the bodice is waaaaaayyyyy too big for her and for the rest of the dress. Don't know if I did something wrong or just need to modify it a bit. Sooo, the only other project I have to offer is my Top-Down Wrap Cardigan from Knitting Pure and Simple. It is made in Cascade 220 and used 990 yrds. It was mostly finished months ago but I finally sewed in the ends, blocked it and ordered a pin for closure. I don't have a pic of the pin yet, but the sweater is finished and it is cool enough here to finally wear it too!

Well, this was a busy knitting month for me... but I really screwed up because I made two scarves that I did not take progress pics of. But the things that do count are the socks for my granddaughter. My gosh she has long feet! She is 5 1/2 years old and the socks are 8 1/4 inches long! The pattern called for 175 yardage for a 7 inch foot so I am safe there. Used the Sirdar Snuggly Magic yarn and size 3 dpn. Then I made two scarves out of the Feather Yarn by Caron. Each scarf had 70 yards plus the little bits of added glitz. I added gold fun fur to the burgundy one and Crystal Palace Fizz to the blue one. I used large needles - size 13. So I am good on the yardage. I will add the finished pics of the two scarves that don't count. The black is fun fur and the gold yarn is Crackle with gold fun fur. I also added 4 1/2 inches to my grandsons sweater from a year ago. Wow... busy for me. Happy Knitting to all of you. Renee' aka yoyosocksister.

WIP for August 12m/12p/12boy

Gosh, it hit me today that I never posted my wip pics so here goes. I finished a sweater for my granddaughter in the dog days of summer kal and so I started a pair of socks to go with the sweater. Size 3 dpn and the Sirdar Snuggly Magic yarn. I am also working on scarves for a group of ladies that our Church gives gifts to at Christmas. Both scarves are knit with Caron Feathers yarn and I am adding Fun Fur to one and Crystal Palace Fizz to the other.

Here's my contribution for August. I got this *brilliant* idea that I wanted to knit a nightie for one of the Stitches Midwest PJ party. I finished seaming and tucking in ends about 2 hours before the party began, GOOD ENOUGH. I'll have to go back and check yardage, but I do know it's over 1,000 yds, so no worries there. So much to knit, so little time. You know, I want 24 hours in a day JUST TO KNIT. *sigh* Life. (This is out of elann sonata in Jade)

August Update

Finished socks and some new projects started. I finished the Escalator Socks. They used almost the entire 420 yard skein of Cherry Tree Hill Supersock Select Semi Solids in Wisteria. I started the Adia Scarf in Hand Dyed Superwash Merino in Sapphire Semisolid and the Flower Baby Blanket in Wendy Velvet Touch.

12m/12p/12b Gloves

As soon as I saw the pattern for these gloves, I just knew I had to knit them, and I am very pleased with the result. I used Cleckheaton Cocoon in a boring tan, then dyed the glove a rich coffee brown afterward. Total yardage: 304 yards.

Glove knitting is addictive!

Aug. Items Finished

I actually got two projects this month. Walk Through the Woods Kerchief, July's Woolgirl Sock Club. The yarn is from Knitted Wit. This was a fun pattern I had never worked one that went a different way. The Brandywine Shawl gave me an aah moment and I was able to finish this one.

I also finished Brandywine by Romi. Yarn from Zen Yrn Garden. Loved how this shawl turned out and I will make this again. Maybe it was working with merino cashmere I'm not for sure.
