Wanted to add a nicer picture of the socks.


I am competing in Iron Knitter. Pretty much how fast can you knit a given pattern. These I finished in under 24 hours. I did sleep and I am house/animal sitting at my sons place. Being, there is a dog, as one of the animals I am over there for 2 -3 hours a day.

Not the pretty pictures, but the really quick "I am done, please let me move on to round 2 picture".

Yes Soxual Persuasion is the name of the sock pattern.

January Finish

Finished socks! Yarn is Prism Saki and Froehliche Wolle Blauband. Men's size 14 wide. Saki had 430 yds and then I used about 100 yds of Blauband.

Motley Jesters made from leftovers and beads. So far there are 5 yarns in the sock. I may need more for the foot.

Scarf started
As a Guild Holiday gift, I received two balls of Noro Matsuri, a Cotton Wool blend. It will become a Multidirectional Diagonal Scarf. Yes, those are glass knitting needles.

I've just begun my second project, it's the Icarus shawl, knit in Lost City Denise's beautiful cobweb lace alpaca, colorway Saffron Threads. I just love the yarn and the color!!

January Hayrick socks finished + 1 Rainbow sock

Anne Hanson's sock pattern called Hayrick using yarn I had in my stash that I dyed with Landscape dye "saltmarsh". 97 gms used for size large. I used a traditional heel flap (from Anne's "sock pattern to end all sock patterns") instead of the short row heel in the pattern and Fred requested a plain foot instead of the pattern for comfort. He wanted to wear them this weekend at a course he's teaching so I stopped work on the Rainbow socks (Adrienne Fong's great pattern) for me and finished his. Now it will fun to finish the Rainbow Over Lahaina sock. I've taken a pic of the one that is finished from the side as well as the front. Love the pattern and am really enjoying using this yarn. It makes a wonderful fabric and stretches a bit thanks to some elastic in the yarn. I had 3 gms left from the 50 gm ball for this first sock. I changed from a regular toe to a 6 pointed star toe because it fits me much better. I also used decreasing needle sizes from the cuff to the heel and it fits great. I'll finish the 2nd sock soon and then do the Amerika yarn in the same pattern (correct size and first 5 rows not omitted this time). :)

Progress Picture for January

I'm knitting the SKA Mystery Sock Pattern by Debbie O'Neill and using Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock yarn in the Old Rose colorway with size 1 dpn. I played around with a few different colors of beads but decided on a slightly darker bead so it would show up. At the moment I am done with one heel flap and just starting the second.... right on track - Yahoo!!!!! Happy Knitting :)

January Project Finished (Again!)

I finished the second knitting of the Shalom Cardigan. I amm soooooo happy that I redid it as it fits much better than the first time. Now I just have to add buttons, but can't decide, so I posted a picture of my options if anyone wants to give an opinion. I used 4 balls of Berroco Comfort Chunky, so total yardage is 600yrd. (I used almost every last inch of each ball!)

Let's hope February's project goes more smoothly ;-)

I've finished my January project (12mon/12projects/12boy) and I'm going to have a hard time giving these away. But, they are for my very talented daughter who shares a lot of her beadwork with me, so ....... I guess they are on their way to a new home. Thanks to Adrienne for this beautiful pattern.

CPY Project for January - Brenda (Owlsrook)

Lace Socks from the Knitting Vintage Socks book, they are a Child's lace pattern that I have just upsized to Ladies Medium size - the Yarn is "Panda Wool" and the color is "Bluebell". I love, love this yarn. It is so soft to knit with. This is the first time I have used Panda Wool, but it sure won't be the last.

I ordered my CPY yarns from Little Knits, and they arrived on Friday, so I had a hard time deciding which one to try first. I ordered several different Mini Mochi colors and several Panda Wool colors, so looking forward to knitting them all now.

January Project Finished

I finished my shawl for the January project. A full skien of the yarn I used holds about 1000 yards. I started from a skien that about half empty and started a full skein and about half is gone. So maybe about 1000 yards went into this project. I wanted to add color to the shawl so I used some left over sock yarn for my edging.

One big DUH!!!

I went to the doctor today. Have been suffering of ear pains for quite a while - but last week it was simply terrible. Pain in my jaw, pain in my ear, pain in my head, pain in my neck. Can you imagine why my knitting did not finish?  Ah well. The doctor is a nice man - and he saw something that the doctor in Berkel did not see... I have an ear infection. He put me on antibiotics, and a nasal spray. And next week back...to see if everything has healed.

Another progress

Last year was about getting some cardigans. This year will be about sweaters and vests.

Here is the first one and posted before ready.

It is an easy and quick knit with drumsticks of 5,5mm. I cast on in the first days of this year with snow all around and hope to finish it within some more days.

Could be quicker, but I am a real XXL, 6ft tall, so there are some stitches to do. Snow is melting now.

Shelly's January....not as planned.

Well, I cast on several socks for various reasons New Year's Eve and New Year's Day....then life happened. Don't you just love that? I'm in an intensive 10 week set of classes, and it has OVERTAKEN my life. However, the folks looking at etsy have been good to me, and I needed to replenish my stock, so in the name of some egg moeny, I've been crocheting mop covers instead. What's that about the best laid plans of mice and men? AH....well. These are my January enteries. I hope to be back with socks SOON. It's January in Minnesota, and I need more wool socks!!!!! LOL. I guess I could buy some....NEVER! :) Let me know if these don't qualify, then I'll burn some 4am oil *wink*

I used (figured by weight) 522 yards of cotton on a cone. Have a great week all!

January project progress

I finished the first pair of socks for my brother and started the next pair(same specs-KP Bare DK and Swish DK on 2.5mm needles) on 1-11,

and finished the second pair on 1-14.

The third pair is started but I haven't gotten a picture yet. After 4 pairs of boring socks, I am going to need something interesting!

As usual, I have been so busy knitting that I haven't had time to take or post photos, so I'll try to catch up here.

I started the February Lady Sweater for my daughter.

The MMario Mystery is a fascinating pattern, and the photo is clues 1 & 2.

On the Monkey Socks, I have knit the leg on one sock and the leg and heel on the other.

I've knit through Clue 2 of the Panama Shawl.

I didn't like the way that the Saskia was working up so I frogged it and started again using JaggerSpun Maine Line. I am much happier with it now.

Finally, I have finished the first 4 clues of the Winter Mystery Shawl. It's really hard to photograph because the cable isn't long enough to stretch it out, but I think it is going to be beautiful when it is finished.

January Progress (or lack there of...)

So, there is my Shalom Cardigan nearly completed and then there it is again.... completely frogged! I have never frogged an entirely finished project (or 600yrds!), but it was too big and too shapeless and I knew I wouldn't be happy with it, so there it went. I really should have trusted the pattern and not used so many mods from other knitters. My SO (who normally doesn't comment on my knitting) was in shock that I would rip out an entire adult sweater, but it really had to be done.

So, I have cast on again following the pattern more closely. The only mods I have planned to do are to shorten the yoke section slightly and to add a couple more button holes. Now, hopefully, I haven't lost my mojo with this project and I will still have it done by the end of January! Live and learn... and keep knitting...right??? LOL

I hope everyone had a safe New Year. Hoping it is a year of happyness for all.

I did start a few items. Some are gone as fast as they came off the needles/hooks. But I did manage to get some pictures of a shawl I made.

This is Adrienne's new shawl pattern. I had the Panda Wool so decided to see how it works up into a shawl. I do like how it feels and drapes. Did not have enough of the blue for the full shawl (so even though Adrienne held her breath praying/hoping that it would look good), I went ahead and used 2 different colors.

I like it. It only took 2 days to knit.

Now I know Adrienne planned it to be a different oz, but .....Off I will go clicking my Ruby Red Slippers (ok they are clogs) looking for frogs in oz.

More progress

Brown socks are growing. DSIL has large feet. I ran out of the Prism yarn, I used 1/2 by weight. I finished with Special Blauband.

I got distracted by the Jester Socks. The leg has 4 colors in it. I'm ready for the heel on sock #1. The cuff is inside out on sock #2. I needed to know how much grey would be left. I'll be using it on the toes, but not the heels.

Hi! I'm new and this is just the KAL is I've been waiting for to help complete projects.

I've made a goal of completing 10 shawls in 2010 and this will help keep me on target!!!!

I casted on my first shawl of the new year on Jan. 3, 2010. It is the Colonnade by Stephen West in Nashua Creative Focus Chunky in Khaki and Cardovan. I've posted progress pictures below and shawl after the knitting has been finished. I will posted the completed picture next week after I block it this weekend.

January project finished

Finished scarf today. I'm almost 100% sure that I used close to the whole skein, maybe around 460yds. Forgot to weigh it before washing, so now have to wait for it to dry. LB Fishermen's Wool - off white, US 8, before washing 6 1/2"wide by 76" long.

ETA: I think the scarf is dry and it weighs 228g, Ravelry lists the yarn as weighing 227g/skein.

Back in December I started a scarf in Puffin for my 10 yr old. Hope to finish this in February along with some socks.

And Pretty Thing. Started in November, Mini Mochi leftovers, US4/3.5mm. Stalled because undecided on length.

And one more, Laughing Carrots started in July 2009, needs sleeves and finishing. Merino 5, US 6 & 7 (4mm & 4.5mm)

Dishcloth or washcloth. This is one of the first, done with some Peaches and Creme cotton from my stash. The cats have eaten all the labels, so I have no idea what the color code is. Excuse the blue thread; it is part of the provisional cast on. No needle gauge - the cats hid all the needles also, so I grabbed chopsticks. Anyone want some cats, cheap?

So far, there are five of them (cloths, not cats) and I am casting on for the sixth. That will about do it - now all I have to do is find someone with a kitchen or bath in green or yellow and gift them with these. Sigh. Got to quit buying grab bags - I use up all my favorite colors and end up with a lot of less favorite colors. That's okay, February will be socks in a gorgeous color.
